Why would anyone ever listen to either of us. We're professional career cat 4's....

They should ignore you because you are the Psimet Shill.

They should listen to me because I am the PCad BF Beacon of Velo Truth and Wisdom.

so with a 16 pound bike....

I'm liking the way this is going.

No argument there, but for MOST of us it is far easier (and much cheaper) to lose five pounds off your butt/gut than lose two pounds off your bike. And if you live in a place like southern Louisiana where topographic relief is largely lacking and "climbs" are essentially limited to the occasional overpass, then hill climb races are irrelevant.

Btw - why the photo of the guy with his hand on his ass?

At 150 it would be WAY easier for me to lose 2 pounds off my bike than 5 off my body, so talking about it isn't really hurting anyone is it? and if you live in southern Louisiana why would you be reading a thread about losing total weight and complaining that it doesn't apply to you.

hammy56 12-03-10 07:09 AM

a thread like this would get umd banned...

gsteinb 12-03-10 07:10 AM

my greatest hope is that he gets unbanned only to get banned again in a thread like this.

49.61 minutes

Cam did it in 43:58 in 09

to do that would take around 350w at the weight you mentioned

gsteinb 12-03-10 07:14 AM

eff that guy. I'm just worried about my age class. :p

of course I'm not sure if I can get down to 147, and I'm not saying I could or couldn't hold 300....

nothing to see here

Grumpy McTrumpy 12-03-10 07:19 AM

If I had 300w, it works out to 47 minutes, even allowing for 3 pounds of shoes, helmet etc.

We both know it -- it is better.

pgjackson 12-03-10 10:06 AM

Wow, how did this get so complicated?

I didn't think Pcad was that quick.
Well maybe on the keyboard!

And the beacon of BF court jester! Yea, thats it!

Oh yea, I've been told that the shill builds Fast wheels.

dstrong 12-03-10 02:15 PM

If I attach my cleats directly to the bottom of my feet, I'll not only save the weight of my shoes but it will be rotational weight to boot! Granted, I'll have to lower my saddle a few cm's but it'll be worth it!

Hmmmm. I certainly don't recall or read anything I've written in this thread that indicates I was COMPLAINING. I respectfully suggest that you're mistakenly inferring that I was "complaining" (possibly based on a weight weenie bias?).

Wow. Civility is obviously not your forte. But that's OKAY - this is BF, after all!

gsteinb 12-03-10 06:27 PM

it was a joke. calm down.

I am a presently inebriated sea of deep calm, grasshopper. It is your perception that is mistaken . . . but that's okay.

Peace and love! (Oh, and work your on capitalization.)

Deep thought there...but perhaps you can simplify for the BF crowd.

Translation: I'm comfortably numb after drinking a few beers and don't give a rat's a** about what anyone else says. I've no expectations of intelligent/informed responses to my posts, but I'm not the least bit concerned. Everything is kewl.

Gotcha! Now that's the way it should be on a Friday night! Cheers!

Doohickie 12-03-10 09:27 PM

I don't think I would notice any change of less than 3 pounds.

Butcher 12-03-10 10:21 PM

I have two identical bikes, '05 Tarmacs. My 15lb bike is a S-Works and the other is a 20lb Comp. Both have 11 speeds, same handle bars, stem, gearing, etc. The only difference is one has fenders, heavier groupset, and wheels [+250g]. There is a night and day difference in the way it handles. Top speed, I feel they are the same but handling in corners, tight transitions, and acceleration, the lighter one is just feels better.

Perhaps your inebriation is that which is clouding perception? Since each of your posts to me thus far have been wildly off the mark I'd place my bets there. For the record I was on the couch typing one handed because my dog was laying on me. In any case you're worthy of the ignore button; so there you are.

Back on topic which was when you notice the weight difference. The answer from a math standpoint is that you can notice the small weights differences in an uphill TT pretty darn quick amplified by the distance and grade. Whether that's worth the money is up to the individual.

Because the available amount of climbing is a variable, and weight weenie-ism is a constant?

Steve - Let's get a pitcher of NOLA Brown and talk trash about this guy. He's probably too young to get the "comfortably numb" reference anyway. ;)

Fify

If you like nice gear and have the cash, then go ahead and buy it. What else would you spend it on?
