CO2 Cartridges
I have a Genuine Innovations pump, that uses CO2 canisters (non threaded). It's the kind where you put the canister into the handle, then screw the head onto it, which punctures the tube, and theres a trigger to start the air.
Anyway...the canister looks exactly like a CO2 canister used for airguns/rifles, can I use these canisters? I think the canister for the bike inflator is 16g...i dont know what size the airgun/rifle canisters are. If I can't use these, are there cheaper alternatives I can use? I think the bike shops mark up those CO2 canisters like 400% |
This guy has the best prices I found on CO2's. He is also on Ebay but it cost a little more there.

Are the Walmart cartridges threaded?
|
They aren't but my pump uses unthreaded so it's cool

Most airgun pistols are 12g and rifle are both. However these are unthreaded. I believe your Innovation also takes the 16g threaded as well as 12g unthreaded. The 16s usually work better for most road tires.

Buy the 12g unthreaded at walmart. Plenty of pressure to get you home and they are cheap

From time to time biketiresdirect will throw them on the daily deal. I get a years worth for $10.
|
I think there are some CO2 inflators that also take 12g. However, 12g might not be enough to get even air in your tire to prevent a pinch flat... especially in the winter.
I bought some threaded 16g on eBay. I think I got 4 for under $10 shipped, which was the best deal I could find anywhere. |

Have nothing but good things to say about the link here. I think I spent like $20 for 20 threaded cartridges delivered. Only used two so far with zero issues. I think I had them in a couple days with the shipping.

Thanks for the link!!
I recently got my GF a seat-bag as a gift so she can carry her own spare tubes and tools (it gets annoying having to lug around 4 spare tubes on my tiny little bag). I'm getting 20 units =) that way she'll be able to carry a couple of cartridges on her own. Interesting how i just spent about the same amount of $$ to get 4 units at the local performance store.. grr If he would only sell the little microflate Nano Tire/Tube Inflator thingie... =( grrrr. I'm gonna hate to pay $10s+ for two co2 cartridges just so i can get one of those little threaded pumps. |

okay i bought a 5 pack just to try them out, and turns out the pump I have takes 12g, which is the exact sise of the co2 canisters at walmart. SWEET!
At that price 3.50 for 5, it doesnt matter if one canister wont fill the whole tire, I can carry multiples...so no biggie..awesome deal...even cheaper if i buy the 15 box. So I'll just make sure I have 3 on me just in case. |

I carry three with me just in case I get more than one flat which has never happened. |
