Do you eat healthy?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do you eat healthy?

Just curious, do you eat healthy with lots of fruits and veggies, lots of organic foods, and not much junk foods?
I know some roadies like that, but I also know a lot of others who eats anything that's around them.

I eat what ever I want when in the middle of training. It's these cold winter months with low mileage that I have to be careful. I do eat a lot of fruits and vegies and maybe once a week eat food that I don't actually make myself so I guess thats fairly healthy. But, after an 80 mile training ride? Fried chicken, pot pies, chocolate cake, whatever...

When I am cooking - generally yes. When my wife is cooking - not always as much. In a restaurant - well, it's a good thing we don't eat out too much. When traveling for business - ah, all bets are off.

In either case, our diets include no fast food and very little prepared food.

Very healthy, except for chocolate/desserts....plus I am ovo-lacto vegetarian.

But eating healthy does not make you faster.

Remember Greg LeMond's comment about "twinkies and coke?"

My kitchen every Monday night...

...and yes, it absolutely makes a difference. Perhaps not on your event-day meals, but a sustained diet of leafy greens definitely makes me a better motor.

Read a book and learn that it's at least some improvement over the industrial farm crap that is mass market food. Locally sourced would be best but often hard to find. Gives new meaning to "grow your own"

Usually.

I eat very well at home and eat out maybe once a week. When I do, all bets are off. When on vacation, I eat very well but not healthy at all.

At home, yes.
At restaurants, as much as possible.
Hardest part is business travel. I've learned to pack healthy snacks, and occasionally a meal substitute, like cans of sardines.

No. And that is why I am too fat for this sport.

I want to though, but I am not if I am ready for calamaris' diet.
