Custom Kit
Thinking about designing my own custom kit and was wondering where y'all get yours done. I've designed a lot of shirts for teams I have coached, but those sites don't have cycling jerseys. Just wondering where the best custom place is. Thanks.

Primal Wear does great work. We get out kits through them.
Champ-Sys also does good work, and they are relatively cheap as well. Some other brands are: Hincapie, LG, Canari, Giordana etc. |

There was a recent article in VeloNews about this. The top 15 companies based on minimum order, available options, and cost.
My office is deciding between Castelli and Pactimo. |
VeloNews covers all of the custom choices around this time of year because it's when all of us with teams are looking for new providers.
Your biggest issue will be getting mins. |
My club always uses Voler (voler.com).
Does Primal do their own stuff now? I thought Voler made all their stuff at one time. Yes, you do have to worry about minimum orders. Also lead times, which can be long at the beginning of the season. |

I haven't worn Castelli yet, but Pactimo made the worst kit I've ever worn. The seams were very uncomfortable, the chamois did nothing for me, and the fabric on the bib shorts wore thin enough to see through in about a year (being used about once per week).
FWIW - I usually get 2 full team kits and I wear them out within a year - regardless of who makes them. |

It also makes a huge difference which chamois.level of bib was selected.

LG is good stuff for sure. From all accounts Hincapie is some of the best out there but $$$. We went with VOMax this year. meh. Not horrible but still finding their way. Sfatto is a company I have been looking into.
Voler is good and solid and works well, but isn't for everyone. That and the pricing and mins have gone up when everyone else is going down or staying the same. |
I had http://mtborah.com/ make some custom jerseys for me. Minimum order was 6. They are made in the USA, very comfortable (seams are folded so they are not scratchy), the graphics are sublimated.
I kept two jerseys for myself and have used them around a hundred rides each and they seem to be holding up great. No connection with them just a happy customer. |

I see ads for V-Gear everywhere and that seems like the cheapest place out there. Is their stuff complete junk?
|
We use Canari. They're located up in Carlsbad. I believe they have a minimum of 6 to order. I'm sure there's a set up charge as well.
Rather than designing your own, why not start riding with a group and get in on their next order? |

I would question the quality. |
We use ChampSys because the minimum is so low. You just have to get 10 (iirc) of one thing, then you can get anything else in any quantity. E.g., as long as you order 10 jerseys, you can get 1 knee warmer, 3 arm warmers, a jacket, whatever else you want.

do they?
Their low minimums, plus their "1 main item = no minimum on accessory" is nice too. |

I can't personally speak for their quality, but I've heard good things about them through those who have ordered through them.

I had some done for our firm by Mt. Borah.
Cost about $121 each for full-zip short sleeve. very happy with the quality, though as you can see they could fit a little better in the arms. they let you design every panel, except that no design can cross 2 panels. my design did, but they worked with me to make it appear as if it did. this is me after a century this summer. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/...a1154a4ff3.jpg |

$121 for one jersey! Crap, maybe I should just stick with what's on sale at the LBS.
