Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

fc7800 bb + fc5650 crank?

Will it work? i know the bottom bracket goes with a dura-ace crank usually but is there really any reason it wouldn't fit a 105?

Why not get the 7900 crank, it is very light and quite nice.

I can think of about two or three hundred reasons offhand.

We spend lot to make our bike light, this seems like a good money/weight deal.

Some do (including myself), but most don't.

You base that on what data? The OP hasn't provided any budgetary limits or bike specs.

If the op had a budget of $100 he good go to Walmart but that is a questionable deal. Budgets are not the issues be real.

Thanks. That's what i figured but i wanted to be sure.

A few reasons. I get close to cost on parts but they're still not cheap. I would rather take the extra $250 that i would spend on the dura-ace crank and buy the race wheels i have been looking at. The dura-ace crank would probably save me about 355 grams. Spending the same amount on the 105 crank and the new wheels will save me about 598. Basically i can spend $400 and save 355 grams,or spend $400 and save 598 grams.

I just find that 355 grams is a lot of weight. 355 grams weight savings in a frame would be a big deal. You can find the Dura-Ace crank on sale for less than $400+/-, not today. I would say to save your money and buy once.

355 g?

The weights listed at Competitive Cyclist's web site only differ by about 100 g:

I'm going by the weights listed in J&b and Qbp catalogs. I'm just not interested in the dura-ace crank. 105 will do just fine.

I'm running an Ultegra SL Crankset with a Dura-Ace 7800 BB.
No proglemo for me. Rolls like buttah.

I'm using an R700 with a Tiagra BB.

I did buy an Ultegra BB, though, mainly because I mis-purchased an Italian-threaded DA BB at a store clearance and ended up with just one usable BB for the two bare cranksets I had. Now I'll use the Tiagra BB for the Tiagra crank and put the Ultegra on the R700 bike.

JBI and the Q list catalog weights. Competitive cyclist seems to weigh product to determine their own weight ratings. FWIW.

Besides.....don't ever believe anything the Q tells you. it's all a vast conspiracy. f the Q.
