TOTD (Tip of the Day): How to clean Bartape, Rims, White Jerseys, and Oneself...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

On washing your kit with this stuff, Does it have a strong odor? Because ive noticed(at least for me) that jerseys hold on to detergent scent so much that its nauseating. I cant stand being hot a sweaty on a ride and getting straight concentrated tide scent right in the nose

I found a bottle of this lying around (peppermint type) and here are my results:

First I diluted it heavily in water, and tried washing my jersey which has chain grease on it. Then I tried washing my chain and chainrings. No noticeable change in jersey cleanliness. Some grease on chain and chainrings came off, but not anything significant.

Next, I just used the soap straight from the bottle (no dilution). No change in jersey, and only some chain grease came off.

Is this soap not as magical as you led me to believe?

That's your problem right there.

I have only used peppermint but it has a nice, pleasant scent. I really dislike the typical laundry detergent scent. I would rate the pleasantness on par with Assos Active Wear Cleaner at a much more affordable price point, and having a more complex bouquet of high and low notes.

Thanks, I was really confused before you told me.

But really, any evidence that this stuff cleans better than regular soap? I am skeptical.

They all make "free" detergents that don't have any real smell which you should be using on technical clothes anyways.
