Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tried To Get My Bell Volt Today....and FAILED, HARD

So I ordered a supposed Black & White Bell Volt back in late November from Performance Bike while it was on back order and there was 20% discount and then today I got the e-mail telling me that my order was ready for me to pick up at the store. So I pick up my order and almost leave without checking my package, but I stop at the door and tear my package open to find this hideous thing...

I was not pleased. So I asked if they could send it back and exchange it for Red/White....they were out of stock. So I had them refund my money. I remain without a helmet. I'm mad.

So now I'm looking around eBay to see if I can find a better price on the helmet I want. What do you guys think of these?

yeah, I ordered a Giro Ionos from Nashbar. they canceled my order without even telling me, saying the thing was out of stock. Not even offering to send me a different color or anything. I had a sweet deal with their sale, my coupon, I had it right at $100. now I got nothing.

I agree with Tortuga - you want a red/white so hold out for a red/white.

Sorry, I should clarify. I want Black and White, but the only Black and White they have at Performance Bike is that horrid eyeball thing. So the next best thing I could think of them possibly having is a Red and White, which they also did not have.....

Do any of you think that there are any downsides to ordering off of eBay?

Ive made hundreds of purchased off ebay and Ive only had 2 issues. one was defective which was promptly replaced by the seller, the other was crappier than I thought it would be. (knock off dremel rotary tool $12.50 shipped)

When I saw that helmet picture...well I am still laughing.

We order stuff for people, they pick it up they don't pay for shipping...you know what you are getting...I chuckle at the back and forth and hassle people go through to save a couple of bucks. I guess you guys are not very busy. Some of us know what our time is worth.

This is Bell's entry level helmet, and is a universal fit. It's not close to the one the OP wanted which is a fitted pro level helmet.

I had one of these as my first helmet, weighed about as much as my bike and I felt like my head was going to suffocate it was so poorly ventilated. I like my Bell Sweep R above all.

He just said he knew what his time was worth.

He didn't claim it was very much.

Take a look at the Uvex fp3.1 or 3.0. Team Columbia uses them.

Just wondering, if you will ride a bike with those bottle cages, why do you care what your helmet looks like?
