Minor bike crash + a few questions

Well, I was riding with my friend the other day on my Felt Z100 that I've probably only ridden 75 miles, when I hit a patch of ice (it was a very cold day) and fell on my right side and skidded for a bit. I was fine, with just a few scratches here and a bit of road rash, but I'm not sure about the bike and need some help.
The extent of the damage is as follows:

1. The brake hoods are all messed up. Im sorry if I don't know all the lingo, but the left one was pushed off from where it should be and i pushed it back, and the right seems a little bent as well. The shifters themselves are fine on the left, the right ones are a little bent.
2. The rear deraillur seems damaged. When I wheel the bike backwards, it makes a ticking sound and moves a little bit. Also, the r.d. shift cable has no tension. The deraillur pulley seems bent/off too.

Really what I want to know is if you guys think I'll have to replace anything, or if I can just get it repaired? Any advice? I'm a little new to this whole thing and I feel a little lost. Thanks and sorry for any ignorance!

Can you bring it back to the shop you bought it from and have them evaluate the damage?

The levers can be put back to the right alignment (there's a 5mm hex bolt under the hood somewhere -- where exactly depends on whether it's Shimano, SRAM, or Campy). If all you did was skid, the internals are probably not damaged, but I'd take it in anyway.

The RD issue is more trouble. You may have damaged the RD itself, or bent the derailleur hanger, or both. Either one can cause shifting problems. Definitely take it in.

well, I could do that, but after I bought the bike and went to a different shop i realized that they kind of ripped me off and really weren't very helpful. They didn't even fit me to the bike. However, there is a guy who works out of his house and has a small bike repair shop just down the road who I'm thinking of taking it to.

K thanks caloso. Yeah I figured that the derailleur would be a bit more difficult of an issue. Are they like repairable or is it pretty much if they're damaged they're done? If so, maybe it's time to upgrade to tiagra =)
What about the tension in the cable? is that just because the brake/shift lever was shoved around you think?
thanks for the help guys

It may be repairable. I once ran over a thick piece of wire (like a shirt hanger, but thicker) that got caught in my RD and it bent the cage all to hell. The shop was able to straighten the cage a bit, but it was never perfectly straight and I ended up just replacing it. The slack cable may be caused by the bent RD or the shifter being knocked out of place. Or a combination of both.

Alrite cool thanks for all of the help. I'll take it in tomorrow I think and hope for the best.

Sorry to revive this but I just had another quick question:
how do I tighten the cable that shifts the rear derailleur? its very loose right now and im thinking thats a majority of my problem...

There's a barrel adjuster that goes into the (back on shimano) of the derailler. But if the derailleur or hanger was bent then the limit screws may not be adjusted properly anymore, which might allow your RD to go into your spokes. I'm going to repeat the earlier advice that you should probably have someone who has more experience working on bikes look at it.
