KNEE WARMERS! Unless it is just crazy cold where you ride. KW's afford you the ability to remove them should the ride get too warm so for spring and fall they are amazing. If you ride year round and the winter is freezing cold then the bib knickers will do you right.

Depends on the day.
Ride starts @ 45 degrees and ends @ 50 degrees : knickers
Ride starts @ 45 degrees and ends @ 65 degrees : leg warmers
I guess length of ride factors as well. Longer ride with rest stops lend themselves more to legwarmers.

Oh, cuz I said legwarmers? My answer's the same for knee warmers. Carry on.

Seems to me that most of the knee warmers I've seen actually extend farther down the shin than knickers.....might be a little warmer????

Knee warmers. They are more versatile (you can take them off).

Knickers are often made with heavier warmer material, and thus warmer. My rule of thumb is under 60 degrees = knee warmers, under about 45 degrees = knickers, in the 30's then tights. Conditions vary with sun, wind, etc... I don't like leg warmers, as if it's cold enough for leg warmers, I like tights better.

I've got some great wool Pearl Izumi tights that I bought about 15 years ago that are really warm that I wear below about 35 (like today)...and some fleece/lycra tghts that I wear below about 45....I was looking to add something lighter for when it's not so cold.
