Cycling accessories for less than $100.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling accessories for less than $100.

Hi everybody! I have $100 store credit for my LBS and I can't decide on what to get. And I have to spend ALL the money at one time. Do you guys have any accessories or tools that come in handy a lot and I should get? Thanks!

P.S. I don't really have that many accessories for my bike besides a $3 ebay bike computer and and new shoes and pedals.

Saddle bag, lights, bottle cages, bottles, tubes, a good pump, CO2+cartridges.

Ignore all of that if you don't have a helmet - get that first.

I already have a Giro Transfer helmet and I don't think I need another one. I was thinking about getting a portable pump(I bought a $30 floor pump from amazon), but I don't know if I should get a CO2 or a manual pump.
This pump is $25 at my LBS. Should I get it?

I haven't heard anything about those pumps, but a minipump is definitely a good idea.

The Lezyne ones seem to get good reviews - see if your LBS carries the brand.

A new pair of gloves is always nice, and a cyclist can never have too many tires!

Pump, seat bag, tools (tire levers, multi-tool, patch kit), jerseys, shorts, chamois cream, maybe a better computer...

Clothes. Right now a couple of nice base layer items would be perfect. All the gizmos will be worthless if you are too cold to ride.

Those pumps work, but they don't work well. I need about 150 pumps with it to get close to 100psi. However, this was a price I was willing to pay for the diminutive size of the pump.

All the stuff you need to not get stranded: tubes, patch kit, pump or CO2 (or both), minitool, and saddlebag to carry them.

I visited the store today to check out their prices and all the clothing items are really expensive. And I don't really need any warmers or anything because the temperatures stay in the 60s in SoCal. So right now I am thinking of buying:
1. A Mini pump(Maybe CO2):$25-30.
2. Saddle bag:$25.
3. Any tools/multi tool:~$25.
4. Tubes/tires: any money that is left over.

How much is a set of tires? I saw a box of Vittoria Zaffiro tires for $30. Is this the price of two tires or do I need two boxes for a set?
And I see saddle bags on ebay for 5.99 so should I buy one of those instead of buying it at the shop for $25?

I paid $8 for my saddle bag, and that was at the bike shop. For $25, it must be a huge bag that's probably more space than you need.

$100 can get a decent amount of pot, which is good for cycling.

The cheapest decent sized saddle bag was $25. There was one cheaper one for $15, but it was really tiny.

Look for a "flat kit" where you'll get a mini-pump, mini-tool, patch kit, tire levers & saddle bag if they have one.

Priorities:
  1. $40. Flat kit (mentioned above/about $60. if purchased separately)
  2. $10. Tubes (at least 2)
  3. $20. Bottles & Cages
  4. $40. Shorts
  5. $20. Gloves
  6. $30. CO2 Dispenser & Cartridges

I'd say get the cheapest stuff you can get now just to get on the road and
upgrade as needed. But the most important (IMO) is a flat kit and hydration.

Here's my essentials kit:
  • Lezyne Micro Bag
  • Lezyne Tire Levers
  • Lezyne Patch Kit
  • Crank Bros 17 Multi-Tool
  • Genuine Innovations Air Chuck w/16g Cartridges
  • Topeak Micro Rocket Carbon
  • Tubes (2)
