Campy 10 speed / 11 speed compatability
I have searched but not found a definitive answer. I want to change my standard 10 speed ultra torque crank for a compact. I have not had any luck in finding a 10 speed. Will an 11 speed crank work with my 10 speed components and chain? I want an answer from someone who has actually run this combination. I can buy a new Record 11 speed crank for what used 10 speed cranks go for on ebay.

I can't imagine that it won't. I've got a bike that's running a current 10sp crank with a pre-2000 9sp drivetrain (yes, Campy). Should be a similar type of change.

I wanted to switch my cranks to compact on my 2007 record 10 drivetrain. So I emailed excel boulder and they said it could work but it wasnt recomened due to a spring. So i emailed Competive cyclist and they flat out said no it wont work. So I bought 10 speed cranks of ebay. Hope that helps

I found a number of Campy 10-speed Ultra-Torque compact cranksets, even Record with a simple search. The Centaur line is still 10-speed and you can get alloy or carbon.

If it's a full swap from 10 to 11, I can't see why it wouldn't work. The difference in chain width is tiny. Where's Dave ? |
I've used a 10 speed chain with my 11 speed compact and it worked fine. It's a direct swap since all ultratorque cups are interchangeable. SR cups just have no inner seals, since they are not required with CULT bearings.
