Does anyone in here have any experience with Williams Wheels?

wait, my $4000 sports car is a "manhood enlarger" and you are shopping for carbon fiber wheels?

i know, i know, they have lower priced aluminum wheels. i dont have any personal experience, but pcad praises the new carbon wheelset.

More like "window shopping"! P-Cad likes them, though? Hmmm, time to find something else, then. LOL Carbon wheels on my current ride would be superfluous, for sure!

where you looking for carbon wheels? what do you ride? i have grown to love the look of deep carbon wheels on traditional steel frames. superfluous? yes. could i justify it? no, but i enjoy when others can.

I currently ride an '02 LeMond Buenos Aires. But I'll be picking up my new Tarmac in a few weeks and was thinking that if I have a couple of good commissions this month, I might treat myself to some carbon clinchers. Nothing too deep, though... under 40mm, for sure. As I said, just window shopping. I'd never heard of Williams before, and am too lazy to do searches...

I was just browsing their site and really like the look of their 20mm carbon tubulars. I want a set, and it's insane, because their Campagnolo set is only $1,029.

If only I had a grand...

I have a set of Williams System 30s. Also, Williams is a club sponsor. I had a PowerTap installed in the wheelset and use them for training and racing. I have other carbon wheels as well that I use for racing. I purchased the System 30s for the deeper section look and metal braking surface. I do not like the carbon braking for training when doing long descents. Racing is different since I brake less and keep up with the pack.

I did two tough rode races on the system 30s. One had 6.5 miles of Paris Roubaix style rough road. The other was a 70 mile road race with about 15 miles of rough road. The wheels performed perfectly and are true.

Williams customer service is excellent. Good luck with your choice.

One of my club-mates has system 19 and loves them.

I have ordered a set of the 38c but not ridden them yet.

Overall they have been pretty well reviewed.

My wife and I both have System 30's and love them...

I have used them as training and racing wheels. I'm now looking at picking up a Sys30 with a Powertap hub to match up with the existing front wheel that I have.

Customer Service is excellent as well!

Carbon is real isn't quite as catchy.

Yeah, I know... gonna have to change my tag line when I get the Tarmac, huh?

My teammate has some 58 carbon clinchers. Likes them. Races on them mainly, sometimes trains on them.

I looked through a lot of posts in the archives about Williams wheels. Mostly great reviews. One thing that was of concern is the availability of hub parts, should Williams change suppliers or something else happen to stop the flow of those particular hubs.

Anyone have more info about the hub rebuild-ability?

I had a hub that I had a concern with and Keith met me at one of the races local races and serviced it right there and then. My wife and I have 4 sets of Williams Wheels between both of us and zero issues beside the one I just memtioned. I put over 8k miles on a set of 30s this last year with zero issues.

I have a set of Williams carbon 58 tubulars that I have raced on the past two years. No problems and I would buy them again.

I had the old style 38c's and now I have the new lighter ones. They were both great sets, the new ones are quite impressive at 1460 grams. Very light indeed for 38 mm wheels. Excellent product, very high quality, great customer service.

How about lateral stiffness when descending? The 38's are the ones I am considering.

Thanks for chiming in on this, btw.

My 19's have been great wheels, more robust than you'd think, and I find the hubs to be excellent. They roll very nicely indeed.
