How many miles should I ride before I rest?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ur not getting many helpful answers, so i'll tell you what i do. on the resting matter, i rarely take a rest, but im 15 so i could go all day without resting, but when i started i was resting at the top of hills, while waiting for slower friends to get to the tops of the hills. but when cycling by yourself, find were you are comfortable, as in a state and output that you can sustain for as long as you on riding. if you go too fast you will need to take brakes. ridin steady with a steady constant pace is the fastest. on the downhill matter, you gain more being as aero as possible while going downhill, if you have to the pro tours, when the come to steep downhills, there heads are nearly lower than their saddles. but for the not so steep downhills, your going to want to pedal.

If you come back from a long, hard climb, and coast your whole way down (depending on length), there's more lactic acid build-up and can lead to a cramp.

Now if you gradually pedal, the lactic acid won't build-up as much.

i did it once. i was falling asleep on the bike and after the second time i swerved violently across the whole width of the road and nearly taking out several other cyclists, I stopped and lay down on the grass verge and slept for half an hour. Well, I tried to sleep but the other riders kept coming over and prodding me thinking i had been a hit and run victim.

This is nearly the best thing I have seen on BF all day. At 16 his curfew changes and he can go almost half the night.
