The Red crank is good for the money. The Lightning crank is one of my favorites. That's what I am going with. I really like my Red cranks too. They are at 739g complete with Chris King BB, kcnc big ring, and pedal washers. Which isn't bad for what I paid for them. I'm about to save over 150g off of them however.
I bought the gold X10SL as well. The gold was supposed to extend the life. After 2k miles it is all worn off in most spots lol. I should probably check the stretch.

I just went through buying a new (to me) BB30 crankset - for a Buy It Now (ebay) price of about $300, it's not hard to find a new Red crankset. Lightly used for about $200. I ended up with a used Force crankset for $120 - perfect shape, functionally, with very little wear, but the logo on the inside of the NDS arm is peeling (I don't give a ****). On average, I was seeing about 6-10 new pieces listed per day, in an acceptable size range for me - you don't need a lot of patience, you just need a little.

Correct, and 739g was with BB cups. The Lightning cranks are BB30, but they have a BB available to fit onto standard frames like mine.

It's only 5892g, so another 107g to loose. I figure why not go nuts. I didn't want to get that ambitious, but then a Lightning crank came around used for cheap. As much as I like the US, and all that it stands for. The metric system is a far superior mode of measurement.

very nice!! please post pics and build list when you do. if you are going to get that light why not shot for 12.5lb or even 12lb. not to sure what you have going already but it can be done and still be ridable. still even your old goal of 5999g is very light so even if you make that you will be doing good. good luck

Hey now. This has already gotten way out of hand. Don't give me anymore stupid ideas. I just did some calculations, with the KCNC brakes, Lightning cranks, that should get me at 5919g. I should also save a few grams with the ti bolts that came in for my Speedplays yesterday I am not counting those yet. It's getting real close to being under 13lbs. I think next will be some B-T-P shifter clamps, and maybe some tuning on the RD, and perhaps, Fibre-Lyte jockey wheels. Once it's under 13.0lbs, I am quitting this silliness. I said that about 15, and 14, but seriously this needs to stop.

Lol - that's saying something when the king weenie says uncle.
Still sub 13 is very impressive. I'll be happy with sub 15. The parts I'm putting total up to well under $1k and if you subtract what I make by selling my old parts off I'm really doing this on the cheap. I could maybe hit sub 14 with a set of carbon tubulars, but I've got other financial obligations I need to meet first.

My finger was SOOO itching to click "Buy It Now," last night, but my I'm still not sure if I want/need a zero setback post, so I figured I'd share a good deal if someone else wants to take advantage - there's a 3T Doric LTD on ebay for $119, new, free shipping. This is a 31.6. He listed a 27.2 last night but, not surprisingly, it sold.

I'm not the king weenie. cyclebycle13 is. His Scott is in the low 11's.

Got the shifters in last night, so this weekend I'll be converting to Sram. A master mechanic I'm not so hopefully I'll be finished before the weekend is over. I have a 26.0 Syntace on the way, in the meantime I'll have to use the ugly Stella as I like to refer to it.

Just did some quick calculations - with the new handlebar, stem, shifters, RD, and brakes installed I'll save close to a pound. I'll be right around 15 pounds, but I think I'll still be on the north side of it.

Im thinking my best weight reduction
/price of the item, would be to go with an ebay (marek?) saddle and KCNC seatpost.

I rode the Lunar light tubes last night for the first time on a fast group ride. Paired with the Ultremos they were awesome. Quality of the ride was very very good.

yep its an e5 frameset that I built up myself.
the saddle would be $100 and be 136g actually, haha.
how much are lunar tubes? my current tubes are about 95g each.
Trying to see if I can make my bike a half a pound lighter for under $300.

KCNC Seat Post - $80 80 gram savings
KCNC Skewers - $50 100 gram savings
No name carbon saddle on ebay - $50 150'ish grams savings
That's what - around 320 grams lighter? You'd be in the upper 16's. I'd recommend the post and skewers in blue - would look hot with that frame.
