Re-using Campy 11 chains?
Has anyone removed a campy 11 chain and re-assembled it without using a new pin? Im wanting to build my new frame, but havent ordered a new chain. Not sure if I need to wait...anyone with experience, thanks.

You should absolutely use a new pin. When you punch out a pin, the peened out head on it breaks off. Putting it back in will both enlarge the hole in the side plates and likely won't hold. Either get a quicklink or just leave it on to clean. I use one of those Park took chain scrubbers that mounts on the chain and back pedal to clean. Works pretty well.

Im not taking it off to clean it. But thank you for the input on re-use.

Search for posts by DaveSSS. Much Campy info.
But I wouldn't reuse an old pin. Not sure if that's possible ... at least successfully. Can you just order the pins? I ordered 10 last year, and have only used one so far. |
KMC now offers their Campagnolo 11 speed Missing Link. Get a card of 6 for around $40 or less or get 1 factory Campagnolo 11 speed replacement pin for $35+. It is your choice. Do not re-use a Campagnolo pin.

Ok...just wasnt sure if it was done/possible. Thanks for the input.
