Anyone Have Michellin Krylion Carbon Blowout Issues?
Have any of you had any issues recently with newer Michelin Krylion Carbon tires blowing out on the side walls or having the bead come out of the tire? Anything that might look defective?
Thank you.
Thank you.

here here.
nothing catastrophic, but last year i wound up with a brand new krylion that had a weak point in the bead. went on the rim fine, but when it was aired up to 120 or so, the bead would pop out. thought it was poor installation on my part, but nothing would make that part of the bead seat. upon closer inspection it was clearly a defective section of the bead, it looked weak, and was stretchable (which it shouldnt be!)
i now ride either PR3s, vittoria's or schwalbe ultremos. no more krylions for me.

and i know people say they're just fine, but since they switched production facilities, i definitely noticed a difference, they seem less supple, less grippy, and overall, a harsher ride for the same pressure. as i said - i'm definitely done with them, and i used to be a big fan of them too.

Well, I recommend these tires like crazy, and I had a bad bead separation on a new pair today that almost resulted in a face plant, and one of my teammates had two brand new tires do the same thing in a matter of weeks. I'm getting ready to contact the distributor with pictures to inquire about defects but I wanted to hear if any of you guys were having troubles first. What a shame, used to be such a reliable tire, I rode on them since 2008 with NO flats until this new pair.

I have a a set that is about 8 months old. No sidewall blowout issues. (yet) Is there a way to check the manufacture date?

I've had 4 Michelin Krylion Carbon's in the last year, and all of them have worked perfectly. Only thing that has happened with mine is I hit a railroad track and pinch flatted my rear wheel so bad it dented the rim severely, but the tire was perfectly fine with a new tube.

I have had 2 sets of these (each lasting around 3000mi). I have had no issues and they seem bulletproof. I have had one flat in the last year, and that is here in Tucson where cactus thorns and glass are abundant. I would recommend them.
