Bike for my Dad?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike for my Dad?

Over the holidays I went down to visit my parents in FL... My Dad mentioned that he wanted to get a road bike to lose some weight that he gained. (Used to train in TKD extensively, but after he retired/moved he didn't find a new school and started to gain some weight.)

Sizing isn't an issue, I told him to find a good LBS and get a fitting, but what are some of the nice mid range bikes for men these days?

I saw a Fuji Newest, with 105/tiegra, seemed pretty nice, and I think he would like it. Thoughts on that bike?

Or other suggestions?

Thanks.

the Fuji is a decent bike for the money but i would get something other than a newiest. Look at the Roubaix. not the Roubaix ACR just the plain Roubaix maybe the 3.0. Performance has the prety cheap but id say a LBS should be able to get him a pretty good deal as well. I got a Roubaix ACR later last year and have been really happy with it for the money. The ACR has a more aggressive geometry that the regular Roubaix so id say your dad would rather go that route. its similar to the newiest just nicer. although for his needs the Newiest might not be a bad way to go.

here is a link to what im talking about
