While riding through Oceanside I came across this guy. Awesome bike. Sorry for the low quality photo...taken with my iPhone.

Makel 01-22-11 02:03 AM

What kind of a bike is that?

DRietz 01-22-11 02:17 AM

It's called a tall bike.

Most are home made, but that one looks pretty good actually.

MajorMantra 01-22-11 02:20 AM

Tallbike.

EDIT: Ninja'd!

2ndGen 01-22-11 02:21 AM

I love Oceanside! I wish I had a bike when I was down there!
They were just talking about those bikes today on CNN.

Thanks.

That's freakin ******. Wonder if it would stand up to a 20mph wind gust.

Go to the Alt Bikes forum here. There's a group that's right into these things.

Flip it.

MrTuner1970 01-22-11 06:34 AM

Do you think the standover height is a bit much for his size?

Thats what you get for ordering online.

Oostal 01-22-11 06:47 AM

I wonder, whether he can ride clipless?

Makel 01-22-11 07:13 AM

Does he have to hop off and on at every light?

Chris R. 01-22-11 08:11 AM

i want to see him do a wheelie on it!

HigherGround 01-22-11 08:14 AM

He needs aero bars.

I don't know, I've never done a trackstand. Do you think it possible to keep pressure on the drivetrain from that high up?

RacerOne 01-22-11 08:22 AM

This actually looks fun. I could imagine riding this through my small town of Brazil. Somebody would probably shoot me and hang me and the on the wall as a trophy.

Yeah, but it's probably a wee bit tougher to track stand when it's not a fixie.

Phil85207 01-22-11 10:09 AM

I would liked to have seen how he got back on that thing. I bet that takes some practice just to mount it, let alone trackstand.

Is there any point to these things other than just wanting to be different? Personally, helping build a house for Habitat seems like a better investment of building skills, time and energy?
