Orbea Lobular - Good? What is it?
Hi. My friend is wanting to buy a 2004 Orbea Lobular with full dura ace and ksyrium SL wheelset (also carbon fiber chainstay, seatstay, and handlebars) for $699. I looked at Orbea's website and they have a Lobular Cross. I am guessing the 2004 is a Cross too, and Cross is meant for cyclocross. It looks like a road bike.
Is it a good bike? Is it a good price? *posted this in cyclo just in case it might be or what not or it gets deleted for being in wrong section) |
Full Dura Ace? Um, yes, buy it.
|
Is it a good bike? He guessimates the weight at 16 to 17 lbs.

Yes, it's a great bike. The frame has carbon stays and forks and with full Dura Ace and Mavic Ksyriums, it's a no brainer for $700.
|
He mainly ride on paved roads. It okay for that?

Bikepedia doesn't list a 2004 Lobular, there is a 2005 Lobular, however there isn't a D/A model, you don't get that 'till 2006. They are full on road bikes.
Also, I don't see a current Lobular listed on Orbea.com :\ (Edit: when I google Lobular Cross I can get to one on orbeas site...hmm) Anyway, if it is a full DA bike and in good condition, I'd say go for it. |
If he doesn't get it. I will try to buy it in Mid february. For 700 bucks, I am sure I could make a healthy profit by selling the dura ace components, carbon handlebars, and wheels by themselves. Don't you think?
