Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2012 Cannondale CAAD10

We all know that the next year's model come out as early as June of the year before. So in about 5 months we will hear about the 2012 CAAD10.

It will be another year for them to tweak and refine the CAAD10 series to bring it up to the reputation of the CAAD9.

What you guys think will be changed and/or upgraded? Or maybe it will be about the same with some different color and graphic?

AND

Is it worth it to wait until the 2012 CAAD10 come out to see if its better and if not then grab the 2011 models?

Please chime in. Thanks.

I wouldn't expect them to change it after only one model year run.

It looks good and is a great value it would be even better if it came with Shimano crank and brakes.

You should think about waiting; you never know what it might be.

I have no idea what they may change. To answer your second question is conditional to my question, i.e., Do you have a bike now? If yes, then wait, if no, then buy now

Paint of course. Components likely. Addition of a Red and/or Force setup, priceless. I'd just get it now. GL

What are you talking about? If you mean word of mouth, some will never accept the CAAD10 since the frames are now built over seas. If you mean something else, I would like to hear it as well know the source.

I saw a truck today that said the end of the world is May 21, 2011. So, I'd buy it now based on that.

I think they should offer APEX at the lowest level, then 105 and then Force.

There's no sense in Rival being ~$400 more expensive than 105 if OEM pricing is about the same(iirc). Apex is a bit more economical than 105 however.

i agree... spesh 105/rival tarmac's are priced the same, no reason a rival shouldn't be priced the same for cdale either unless there is a significant wheel upgrade in the mix with the rival gear...

This reason alone is why I passed on a "team deal" for a full bike. Didnt want 105 and the bump in price to Rival (and no Force option) makes no sense.

I don't want to try and instigate anything here but obviously that is a bunch of baloney. I went on their website and the biblical verses they use to calculate that "may 21, 2011" as the end of the world don't even refer to the current generation(s), they are from the old testament discussing the flood. Frankly i have seen better end of the work predictions.

I have heard a bunch of jazz of this judgement day, and they wonder why people have lost their fate . BTW the CAAD 10's are nice I really doubt they change anything after 1 year.

With this information, you should wait for the 2012 CAAD. You have time.

Well, the results of this investigation certainly come as a relief; here I was, all worried 'bout it.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I don't have a bike now so I think I might have to buy it instead of waiting and letting Spring and Summer pass me by.

If by then a better CAAD10 comes out and it's worth upgrading, I will just sell my current one. I am sure it won't lose that much value...

I would agree with that. If you don't have a bike right now then go ahead and buy the caad10. They are still going be worth something even 4 or 5 years down the road.

I understand that rival cuts about 500grams off bike weight compared to 105
Im getting ready to order caad-10 not sure if i should go with rival or stick with 105
Any input would be welcomed

If you think that's strange...the Bianchi Infinito with Athena is $1000 more than with Ultegra, with everything else - wheels included - being identical. The groupsets alone are within ~$50 of each other.

I would say for $300 more definitely go with the 4 with Rival.
Although the 105 is the new 5700 group, the 4 comes with SRAM Force crank, Cannondale C2 UD Carbon seat post, and few other advantage that I forgot.
