28 hole rims

Hi,

I have some 28 hole hubs sitting here waiting to be used.

I've tried sourcing some 28 hole rims but they're not the most available ones on the market. Infact, everything either side of it seems to be the most common.

I've looked at a few DT swiss rims on CRC, and they seem good, but to get a decent one it's £35 and upwards. Idealy, I would like to keep the price less than £60. But obviously spending another £10 won't make a massive difference.

These wheels are primarily for training so a heavy rim doesnt worry me much but everything is considered. I would like a semi deep section rim for a change though, 30mm or so.

Any one have any opinions on certain 28hole rims or can share advice on which are good, or not good, and of course where to purchase?

Thanks,
Paul

You could consider the KinLin rims, Psimet can give you a quote: http://www.psimet.com/wheels/aluminum-wheels.html I've used some of the lighter KinLins for my road-race wheelset and they're pretty good.

Mavic Open Pros should be in your price range too. They run ~US$85-90 here. I've got the 32 hole versions and like them.

were you talking about this one? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=48166
well, you'd be surprised. The prices for DT rims is actually quite good at CRC.
It's about the same price you'll pay for a kinlin rim after the shipping.

velocity deep-v are about the same price, but the DT rims are better quality.

I have a 28h DT Swiss RR1.2 rim on a PowerTap hub. I'm big so the semi-aeroness of a 30mm deep rim is nice and it's stiff. The RR1.2 became the RR585. GL

Check out Pro Wheel Builder. I believe they sell individual parts.

Thanks for all the replies :) I'm swaying toward the DT Swiss especially after a km. of the reviews I've read and positive comments from here.
