Soul S 2.0 vs Mavic Ksyrium Elites
Looking to upgrade from the stock Bontrager Race wheels (1910 grams) on my Madone 5.2, and am considering these two. Can't afford Ksyrium SLs. I do mostly club rides, don't race, and yes I've lightened the engine (by 23 lbs in the last 4 months). I want something nice, not heavy, and reliable. Any thoughts? I haven't found much in the way of feedback from people who've ridden the Souls over a period of time.

I have both Elites and Souls and the souls are infinitely better. You can probably find 20 threads where I praise the wheels. Over 2,000 miles, no issues, couple hundred grams lighter, spin up faster, etc.
No comparison for me

Good to know. Glad to hear you've put so many miles on them - it's very reassuring.

yeah they Soul wheels get great reviews. i tried to order a set myself but couldnt get paypal to work for some reason. no doubt i would pick them over Ksyrium elites ( i have a set) . you might also want to look at Williams wheels. i just got a set of System 30s and they are very nice! a little heavier than the soul wheels but about the same as the ksyriums. they roll forever and are amazingly stiff. not to mention they are cheap. also take a look at ROL wheels ive heard good things about them as well.

My elites have over 5-8000 miles on them. They are my travel/ bad weather wheels - absolutely bomb proof. Don't worry about their durability.

I've never ridden Soul wheels but I've heard good things. I chatted with Sean on IM once and was impressed by his attitude and attention to detail in what he does. I don't think he'd ever allow anything bad to come out with his brands name on it no matter how much money he made on it. I put many miles in on Elites - I hated them. Mine were the older version though. They were heavy, flexy, rode harsh, and dodgey in crosswinds. I've heard the new versions are much improved.
Another manufacturer that has impressed me is Rol wheels based right here in Austin. I'm riding a set of Volants right now for training wheels. I know several people who work there and have met Sean Rol the owner. VERY customer service oriented company. www.RolWheels.com

I'll also look at ROL, Revolution Wheelworks, and Williams wheels.
This is the first time getting aftermarket wheels for me, and like most everyone else I'd like to get the best bang for my buck. All of these options at a 'reasonable' cost has me stoked!

Soul 3.0SL owner here. Love em. Would buy Soul again in a second (C4.0 yummy). If you can, upgrade to the Prodigy hubs - they are awesome and seem to spin forever.

I have a set of Ksyrium Elites and a pair of Handspun HED wheels, which are very similar in most attributes, but the handbuilt ones ride way better. So get the Souls.

Cheap???
I feel like they are VERy inexpensive, for what you get. I am thinking of getting the S2.0 to start. I mean great hubs, colored spokes, 1330g w/o tires, for $540 shipped... WOW!!!
Is that cheap?
Im going to settle on my bike decision first and then order from for hard rides and longer distances.

I'll be rolling on at least two new pairs by summer

What type of wheels are coming out later? I think a 1365 gram set of 50mm clinchers is pretty good. I don't know of anyone else who has that. How about durability on those.

Just over 1300g?
Better than Elites?
Rated for 210lbs?
Cheaper?
I guess I'm going to have to seriously take a look at Soul 2.0s.
