Best Clipless/Platform Pedal for Commute / Racing
Hi, I use my road bike for a commute to work & I would like to use it for competition also.
I know I can't ask much from a pedal that does dual duty, but if I were to go this route, which pedal would you guys recommend? |
LOOK and Shimano road pedals work well as platforms if you arent trying to go all that fast. That or you can just ride in and change shoes.

You could get Speedplays and then buy the platform covers: http://speedplay.com/index.cfm?fusea...me.merchandise (scroll down a little bit)
$125 or so for the pedals and $24 for the converters. |

Sounds good, thanks for the advice. I just ordered some Shimano a530 dual platforms, hopefully they will do the job. :)
The clip in part kind of sucks, but if you're okay racing regular spd these might work. They're easier to get into than look, but a lot harder than dual sided shimano mountain pedals. I find that they clip tight, don't float as well, and don't clip out as nicely as the dual sided shimano pedals. They're a good pedal to ride mostly with the platform and occasionally clipped in. |
