Belt for rollers
 

A former member who was apparently enough of an ASS to get banned ;) gave me some rollers to help me get some miles while watching the little one at home, but he has no idea which brand it is and it needs a belt. Figuring there can't be all that many variations, and there must be some stretch room for adjustments to length anyway, anybody know where I can buy one that will fit? They are aluminum rollers about 4" in diameter if that helps.

Well, I was hoping for replies from people who have actually mixed and matched brands, but it seems like anything around 70" should work, so I'll give it a shot.

Try McMaster-Carr. You can get hollow urethane belting material that can be cut to length. They sell the connector to complete the belt loop. They come in various diameters, so all you need to do is to measure the groove in your roller to select one that fits. I've been using one for at least 5 seasons without any issues.

I purchased this about 2 months ago for some rollers that are about 20 years old and it seem to work fine. The measurement is the length(or circumference) of the belt. If you have 4" drums, measure the spindle to spindle length and add 4". If it's close you should be fine. Also just check that the diameter of the cord will work with the grooves in your drums. I don't think that it's anything too critical though.

A standard o-ring drive belt would work. Measure the length and if you can't find one from a bike related vendor look into a conveyor supply house.

Will do. I've been a little busy moving into my new place, but I plan to order that one from biketiresdirect.com to see if I have a nice $10 solution.

Update: I found a belt on Performance for $6. It is meant for their Travel Trac rollers, so I looked up the specs and the roller diameter was less than 1" smaller than mine. Since they are meant to stretch quite a bit, and I had a gift card, I figured it was worth a try. It worked just fine this evening.
