And 80psi in the front is reasonable? The article says 80f/100r and I run ~105-110 on both now. Me+bike=78kg, 23c tires.
|
The article puts me 75F/110R, that seems a bit low for the front. I currently run 95F/100R. My bike and weigh in at 178#'s. I'm going to try out the scales tonight though.

Someone mentioned earlier the misconception that higher pressure = higher speeds. The basic idea is that you get a larger tire/road contact surface area as opposed to jumping and/or skipping on the road surface.
There was also a link posted to an article about 25mm tires being a bit faster than 23mm. Maybe you're already using the 25's, but thought I'd mention it. Might get the best of both worlds with 25mm: more comfortable and slightly faster (for us mere mortals at least). |

I've got the 23mm and I read an article mentioning the different widths, hadn't heard about pressure. Also heard Ben Edwards over at Peloton Magazine, previously testrider.com, say the same thing. It's probably mental at this stage. I have some 23mm Maxxis Columbieres that look and feel like 25mm and can take something like 130psi. I like the way they rolled but always felt more in control on the GP4Ks. I'll get some 25mm and do some testing. Thanks.
My heavier bike has 25mm Gatorskins. I can go about as fast on it as on the other bike with Hutchinson road tubeless 23's. The lighter bike weighs around 17 lbs, whereas the other is well over 20. And the wheels on it are at least a pound heavier than the ones with the road tubeless. So there may be something to riding 25's. The tubeless are more comfortable, but speedwise, the bikes feel about the same. Not with climbing, of course, with those anchor wheels. |

I have Origin-8 Elimin-8er the sidewall reads 85 min-120 max psi. I wight 235lb with my bike what you guys recommend?

Are you riding over such rough roads that a high pressure tire losing contact with the road often is a serious concern for overall efficiency? I ride rough roads in Tucson and lose contact here and there but not that often and does the above argument hold when you are on smooth roads?

On my old Specialized Turbo Comp Tire i run F120 R120 . i only lost traction one time on the williamsburg bridge bike lane was going about 20mph+ coming out of a qucik S turn on the Manhattan side. the rear Wheel slip( it hurt). I figure it was because it was a little damp and the the panted bike line.
