The specs of the Boyds rim and the KinLin Cyclocross rim sold at BHS apear the same...and it is different than the new Soul ~30mm rim. I say ~30mm because the Boyds are 28mm and the Soul are XXmm. SOrry I can't give more details other than to say it isn't the same rim...I know that for sure.

Now, the idea of CA5.0 with 23mm does intrigue me... A LOT...

Just heard from the Sean, the 2.0 and 3.0 are going 23mm. There are other changes also to these wheels, but he didn't go into details. Look for the new wheels at end of the month.

That's intriguing news! I'm shopping for a wheel upgrade for my Madone and was thinking a pair of white Soul 2.0's might be the move.

I just sent back a set of Easton EA 90 Aero wheels in fear of breaking spokes, which is common for some older Easton wheelsets. When I put on my old wheels I realized how much quicker the oEastons were. I blew a tire and ruined my old rear wheel. I have been looking into Soul and am going to purchase a set of 3.0 expert or sl. I don't race, ride flat and hilly, don't ride any rough roads, weigh 160-165 right now.
Would the al build be too light for me?
If not, is the weight savings and hubs worth the extra $120 over the experts?

I would wait until the end of May, as the 2.0 and 3.0 are going though a redesign. They will be 23mm and that is all that Sean let out of the bag.

I have a problem that i've been struggling with.
I have talked to Sean about it, and he has suggested i mail back the wheel, but i'm trying to diagnose it on my own to avoid the expense.
I get loud clicks once per rotation (in addition to the usual buzz).
everything seems fine (not damaged). I brought it to a bike shop, where everything was examined, including the bearings, and found to be fine. they re-greased it, and the click disappeared for about 10 miles worth of riding.
it only happens when there is weight on the bike.
Here it is on a trainer with a lot of force applied to the rear wheel, turning the pedals backwards (so the only things moving are the freehub / pawls / drive side bearings.
The pawl spring seems fine.
Sean suggested that i remove one pawl at a time to determine if it's one of those, though I already looked at them and they looked fine.
The hub is greased with tri-flow with no residual heavy grease.
I've had a lot of problems with this hub. The pawl spring broke twice, and now this click.

Thanks to everyone who's shared information on this thread. It's incredibly helpful. I'm thinking seriously of getting the 3.0SLs later this year, and would love to hear from more people who've put a lot of distance on theirs, specifically about flex and durability. Right now I'm riding wheels built on kinlin xr-200s, which are incredibly flexy (not a criticism - they're designed as ultralight climbing rims, after all; they're just too flexy for me). The couple of posters so far who've spent some on the 3.0SLs seem happy with them, but it would be great to hear more experiences, including how they corner.
For a point of reference: I weigh about 160, definitely not a sprinter, and frequently ride on some crappy pavement in NYC. I don't mind having to true my wheels once or twice a year.
Thanks!

I ride on pretty harsh roads here in New Brunswick, Canada - including some pretty hard hits. So far - bulletproof.

First ride impressions....made the bike handle very lively, didn't seem too firm or harsh, they spin up nicely, and I like the way they look on my bike (I am going to get all black tires soon). Compared to the Eastons, I think the Easton's may have accelerated better, but I have been off the bike for about 17 days so time will tell. With the six pawls in the hub, engagement in almost instantaneous compared to all other wheels I have ridden, that is sweet. When pedaling or sprinting out of the saddle sometimes I hear a slight rattling and rubbing noise. I think it might be the tread on the outer part of the tire and maybe the valve stem moving around. Using the worlds most scientific test, when I spin the front wheels with my hand it seems to roll forever, especially compared to my Eastons. Got the plugs to instead of rim tape, and I pulled the tabs out a little before I installed them, worked great.
I was worried about flex to, and I weigh 160-164 depending on the scale. I don't know how to tell if they are flexing other than if the brakes rub when you climb or sprint. However, I can stare at my brake pads long enough or even tell if they are rubbing. I think I hear them sometimes but then again it might been the tread on the outside of my tire coming in and out of contact with the road.

Albaba carbon seat?
Please excuse the OT post but I have insufficient posts to send a PM.
That seat looks like one I was considering buying. The rails fix to the shell closer together at the rear than on other seats and I guessed that may allow it to flex more at the sides. Do you find it comfortable?
