Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i use them for everyday/training wheels, they are alittle heavy if doing lots of climbing but make up for it on decents and the flats, did do 78 miles and 8200 ft of climbing in 5 hrs and 45 min day a couple of yrs ago in the mountains

What do you guys suggest for an everyday wheel? I am 160lbs rider that does climbs in the Bay area. Still deciding between S3.0 or S2.0 Max. Suggestions welcomed!

Tinman,
I have the 2.0s and they are great. we weigh the same and so far the regular 2.0s are holding true after hitting a barrage of potholes.

Oh good to know! Typically how long does it take for them to get to your door from time of order?

Same here, 160lbs, Bay Area rider and I've had the S2.0's for going on two years now. Still ride as good as the day I got them despite hitting 100 pot holes on 40+mph descents.

You def don't need the max. I have the S2.0 and I'm 175lbs and they're fine!

That's actually the combo i'm looking at. I'm looking at the C6.s though. They are supposed to be 62mm deep, but the weight has not yet been advertised. =(
I may sacrifice 12mm depth for lighter rims. We'll see.

i have 2.0's , 4.0's, 5.0's and 6.0's and the 6.0's in tubular are just to fast in races that you find yourself at the front when your not pedaling 62 tubulars are 1251 grams

renton i have a 2011 2.1 with the stock SSR wheels, would you mind filling me in on the differences you have noticed since swapping to these? im kicking around the idea of making the same swap you did. have you noticed crosswinds blowing your bike around? clinb better? roll faster? do they make cycling extremely easy?

it may be the Prodigy hubs, i dunno...

...but in my last race (first one using the C5.0) i found myself coasting past the peloton often, which was weird because i didn't want to. so i'm in a race tapping my brakes so i don't roll out into the wind

Crosswinds are not an issue compared to stock Bontrager SSR. Yes, there is a difference but it's minimal. Rolling faster, definitely. Coasting downhill in the peloton I have to brake slightly to maintain the same speed as the others. Climbing seems to be easier but it could be just my imagination. It's not like a day and night difference. One thing I noticed that I don't like is that when I corner after a steep descent the back wheel feels like going soft and mushy. Not a nice feeling when going over 50km/h. But then again it could be the tires; I also upgraded to Conti 4000S at the same time.

hmmm good to know. i dont have steep decents and never reach speeds anywhere close to 50 so i should be fine, all that other stuff sounds great. i upgraded to schawlbe ultremo zx a few weeks ago, i can tell a huge difference over the stock R1 tires that came on my bike. i too almost went with the 4000s. if i can get my car sold i may order a set to 3.0sl, thanks for your input.
