Getting a new bike - about $3K budget - Suggestions?
I have a about $3,000 budget for a new road bike (I would go more if it was worth it!) and really have no idea where to start or what is the best bike around that price point.
At my LBS I was looking at the 2010 BMC Pro Machine w/Ultegra ($3,000) and the Cervelo R3 with SRAM Rival ($3,200). They also said they could get the Pinarello FP Quattro w/SRAM Rival/Force for $3,450, but did not have one in stock.
Any suggestions on any of these three or any other bikes right around that range?
Any/all help is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Craig

If you can find one that fits and, better yet, if you have one of their retail stores near you, you cannot beat Performance house brand (Scattante) for price and components. For that price you can get a high end carbon frame, made by one of the handful of manufactures (Fuji, etc.) and Dura Ace components. You will not be able to touch a bike spec'd out this way for under $4k.

I have a Cervelo R3 but if I was going to buy a bike now in that budget, I would buy the Cervelo RS with Rival for $2600. If you compare the geometries, the RS has a 17mm longer headtube (5/8 inch) and a 10mm longer wheelbase (3/8 inch) in size 56 which is a pretty minimal difference. I could achieve the exact same riding position on the RS as I have on my R3 by a minor stem angle change (like flipping it).
In fact, I think I could now have a significantly better overall bike with the RS and an extra $600 in a wheel upgrade than I have with my R3. Here is a pretty accurate description of the differences between the RS and R3. https://forums.cervelo.com/forums/p/5915/41967.aspx
The new RS seems like a steal to me.

I dig Focus' lineup. I also like the deal on this Wilier Izoard with SRAM Rival, $2199:

I just bought this. I can't wait to get back and riiiiide. Competitive Cyclist is awesome, they changed all the LBS stuff, (stem length, crank if I wanted, cassette, etc.) with no issue.
The 10% military discount was nice too. I got it for $2079 shipped to Germany.
