Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

[QUOTE=speedemon;12356958]I'll add my input on this thread, have you looked at Pride Cycles?

https://www.pridecyclesusa.com/RoadFrames.html

They're here in the Chattanooga area as well. There's a thread at RBR on them. Seems they're a total failure. To be avoided.

My wife and I both have Litespeed Archon T1 frames and are very, very happy with them. This is the best descending bike I've ridden. Very smooth and precise ride. We havn't had any dealings with ABG.

I had a R320, replaced it with R330. Great ride. Great company. You made the right choice.

My ti bike was made in Kennewick Washington, 200 miles East of my house. Unfortunately they stoped making bikes a while back when carbon became so much more popular.

I've got one of the first batch of Moto Ti bikes (DA, Team edition) that I bought on the holiday deal and got in June of 2008. So far I've got probably 13,000 miles on it. It was my first new bike so I can't comment on how it rides compared to other bikes, but it fits my needs just fine, including a somewhat regular dose of racing. You asked about the fork--I did replace the fork with an Alpha Q shortly after buying the bike. The stock fork felt a little flexy (I'm appx 165 lbs). After paying $2000 for my bike I didn't mind "forking" over another couple hundred for a new one.

Linskey. Hands down. It is the only bike I'm considering as a true race bike this year over a Spec'd Tarmac or CAAD SuperSix.

if only the sportive could take fenders and 28mm tires....without having to pay extra for such a tweaking (anyone know how much?)...looks like it'd make a nice rando-ish, cc touring bike/centuries (etc) in a more upright relaxed position....a 53 tt (med) would suit my 5'6" stature fine.
....below at adrenalin cyclces a promo on sportive seems like a good deal (components?)

I agree, the head-tube on the Sportive is too short.

Thanks SCED for your Bikes Direct link to Motobecane Ti bike.

But I trust my gut and something says if it sounds too good to be true then it most likely is. ie a Ti motobecane bike for $1600ish...and spec'd out?...and it's vying to be a quality product competing with other ti bikes?...and no real detailed reviews?....sorry but am dubious...i just like to do my due dilligence, so not meaning to slag others who've bought from bd or this model....(but I have read too many inconsistent things about bikes direct.)

Instead I would rather buy a quality name like Lynskey (either used or on sale as listed in previous post byadrenalin bikes...or when lynskey themselves is doing some house cleaning) therein letting me ride with full confidence...and if I ever unloaded it would know the resell would be good. Kinda like buying a Honda vs a Kia.

as per Habanero, well, they don't do a sport touring frame (their cross is closest) and even on them I've not come across many more current reviews (most are a few yrs old).

If I go steel instead of Ti, then I might just get the very reputable Gunnar Sport in a 52 (anyone selling one?)....so many great comments on it being a wonderful bang for the buck.

I'm casually shopping for a ti frame but I have not seen any production frames in my size. I need an XS size. Lynsky has a sport frame that has the effective top tube size I need, 50cm, but the standover at 73.9cm is is way too high (I need max 70cm). The stock price is nice but the custom price is a huge jump! I did just email Lynsky to see if they had any ideas to help me out.

If you are looking for an XS frame watch Gearscan.com they have had a Litespeed Bella Ti (650c) up a few times for about a G note.

As for a light, stiff Ti frame for a heavy rider I'm 190lbs (right now) on a Litespeed Archon T1 that weighs 13.8lbs

I can only tell you that my Motobecane Fly Ti MTB hard tail is by far the most amazing bike deal I've ever seen. Similar to the road frames. I've had it for two years. It's a great bike and it's bomb proof.

Thanks for the tip. I'm looking to stay 700c. I'd move everything off my Specialized Ruby if I got a ti frame.

No matter how great you think your Litespeed may be, if you have to go to ABG for warranty you are effed. I heard Competitive Cyclist bought the Merlin brand, so that's good. CC should be much better.

yeah I hear you x43x
...my next bike will most likely be a Hampsten Strada Bianca, a Lynskey Sportive or the great bang for the buck Gunnar Sport.
...this said, I haven't given up on the amazing stuff Sam Whittingham puts out via Naked Bikes (even Lance Armstrong bought one of his bikes at the NAHBS, of which Sam has won 3 awards there 3x in a row....and Sam is a Canuck like me, so tis nice to support our local guys)
