Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Difference in SRAM bottom brackets

So I just received my SRAM Rival group yesterday and I come to learn that they now come with this cheaper looking BB LINK. Did SRAM get cheap or did the vendor pull a switch a-roo?

Last year when I bought a Force group they came with very nice looking BB and something that looks like it will last.

So, is this SRAM BB any better than the one I've linked above LINK? Competitive Cyclist's description certainly make it sound like it is.

The SRAM site doesn't even list either BB I've linked to.

I'm tempted to buy the 2nd one since it's not terribly expensive. It's going on this bike by the way. LINK

The first one is the older design, 2010 and older. The second one is the redesign for 2011 supposedly better bearing seal design.

Tho there's really nothing cheap or wrong per se with the older design. I ran it for years with no problems.

they both work quite well.
I bought the 2011 version from PBK back in january.

most likely, you got 2010 overstock from the vendor.
