Heading to Solvang ride in a few hours.... any last minute suggestions?
Just wondering if you guys have any last minute suggestions or 'don't forgets' to offer.
I have 2 tubes, 2 CO2 tanks, pump & toolkit all packed. I have a couple different sets of riding gear in case the weather takes a turn for the worse & I need cold weather gear.
Not much chance of rain, so wet gear shouldn't be necessary.
I've tuned the bike, checked the air, adjusted brakes, etc. etc.
I have a few different gels and my hydration backpack ready to go as well.
I also installed a second bottle cage, just in case.
What did others forget to do or take on their first out-of-town event?
btw, I'm pretty sure that the tsumani will have passed by tomorrow morning and I won't need to take a paddle or a life vest.

I usually make a checklist and check everything off as I put them in a bag by the door the night before. Little things like gloves, glasses, bottles, lip balm, sunscreen, etc. can be easy to forget. I've run out the door and remembered my shoes at the last minute.

i dont know what support is like for this ride, but if its going to be hot, and i'm riding long, i DEFINITELY want 2 bottle cages, and a disposable poland spring type bottle in my back jersey pocket. drink that one first, then toss it appropriately. also, 2-tubes and 2 co2 seems risky to me, if you've got a mini pump, i'd take that, unlimited air, just in case.
important : take a camera, get some snapshots of the ride, riding friends and yourself, you'll want to remember this.
have fun!

And of course...post them here! Solvang should be BEAUTIFUL right now with all the rain we had, followed by sunshine and warmer weather! I'm envious. Bring us all an Æbleskiver!

Good attitude is always on board!
Helmet, check.
Shoes, check.
Glasses, check.
CO2 is in addition to mini-pump.
2 Tubes are in addition to patch kit.
Sunscreen & lip balm are EXCELLENT additions & don't take up too much space or add much weight.
A camera is essential, glad it's part of my phone.
Support on this ride is supposed to be about every 10-15 miles w/ police blocking major intersections, etc.
I'm really looking forward to this!

Buy some new shorts (different brand), re-cable your bike, tweak the saddle height, and you should be good to go!

(Seriously, don't change anything significant at the last minute of course! Good luck!)
