Cosmetic evolution of your bike

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cosmetic evolution of your bike

I guess this is mainly for the guys who bought completes, rather than custom builds. I'm curious to see how your bikes have evolved as far as looks since you first bought them.

here's my bike when i first got it:

and here's how my bike looks after a new saddle, bar tape, and tires

My Roubaix Expert was so perfect when I bought it. Then I started hanging crap on it to make it rideable. A Garmin, computer, water cages and bottles, mini pump, tiny seat bag. It gets worse when I do a double. I add lights a and sometimes a "bento box." It's just plain sad. Not evolution, but de-evolution.
Every one in a great while I'll do a time trial and take every piece of junk off, restoring it to it's previous state of perfection.
Then my otherwise beautiful bike looks like a fred-a-thon.

BTW, your photos failed in your post... or your bike is so clean it can't be seen.

I'll play.

Pic1 - stock 2007 Roubaix comp triple - all 105 drivetrain

Pic2 - By 2010, upgraded saddle to Fizik antares, wheels to Williams sys 19's, cranks to 50/34 Ultegra SL, FD, RD and shifters (not shown here) to DA 7800

However, this didn't assuage my need to acquire this late 2010:

Pic3: Stock CAAD10-4 with Easton EA70 hoops and Toupe saddle

OOOH, fun game you've thought of here. And nothing lends itself to cosmetic diversity more than raw titanium. The evolution of my Seven Axiom starts when I bought it in late 2008. Black decals, black Selle Italia saddle, Ritchey bars with black tape, Bontrager Race X Lite wheels with Bontrager Hard Case tires, stainless bottle cages

2009 facelift - my "blue period" - stripped decals, rebrushed frame with Scotch Brite pads, new white outline decals, blue tape, blue Conti GP4000s, blue Speedplay zeros, Easton EA90 Aeros, Performance bike carbon cages, Cinelli blue bar tape. , blue Selle Italia saddle went on later

Hmmm. Can't find a picture of it with the Ksyrium SSC SL wheels -they looked sharp

Current livery - last year, we went red and white - FSA K Wing compact carbon bars with white Cinelli tape and red Hudz, Fizik Arione CX black/red saddle, Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL wheels with red GP4000s, Bontrager RXL carbon cages

Before - most parts salvaged from my Giant after I was hit by a car:

After 20,000 km, not much left apart from the frameset and stem:

Before: This is not my specific bike, but this is a stock Felt Z85. Way too much white.

After: Forte Titan wheels, Rubino Pro Slick tires, Torelli stem, Serfas seat, Fizik grip tape.

As i was looking through, i was like, "oh, i like #2" but then i realized that's probably because that actually looks pretty similar to my bike! lol. Blue frame w/ bands around down&seat tubes, black fork, black rims, white seat, bars, and tires. guess i like what i like

Original - Jumbo seat bag, crappy stock rims, high handlebars

New (crappy iphone pic, sorry) - DT Swiss wheels (PT hub in rear), Switched to Ultegra standard crank, just recabled and replaced bar tape (switched both to black). The bike is certainly better, but my motor is much, much better.

Yah, I love this tread. Perhaps I'll post my Masi CX, which only has the frame and bars left from stock.

The only cosmetic thing i've really done to my bike is the paint job and bags, everything else has been utilitarian.

Came like this:

Painted like this:

Thanks. My next major cosmetic change will be to get rid of the red cable and replace with black.

I'll play...

The day I brought her home from the LBS...

Most recent photo... proper BG fit, SMP saddle, Cosmic SL wheels, GP4000 tires, Garmin 705. Not shown, swapped the original stem back on (same angle) and removed decals from wheels.

Lousy cell phone picture after early AM ride...
