Topeak, Blackburn or Park Tool floor pump?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Topeak, Blackburn or Park Tool floor pump?

I am looking to get a new floor pump that has the following things:
1. long hose
2. gauge at top- easier to read
3. stable base
4. good warranty

I have had an old blackburn that has served me well but it has a short hose and floor gauge.

At this point I am having a hard time picking between the:
  • Blackburn Airtower 4
  • Park Tool Pro Mechanic Floor Pump
  • Topeak Joe Blow Pro

Any thoughts?

I bought a Park, had problems with the valve and threw it away after 5 months. I called their customer service number when I first had a problem and they were no help. I went back to my 25 year old Silca.

My Park of 7 years is still going strong...but when I replace it, it'll be with one with the gauge at the top. My brother has the TopPeak and it works well. I think you've got the basic requirements covered unless handle comfort or color make a difference to you.

I have the Topeak Joe Blow and like it a lot. As for durability I have only had it for two months.

I wouldn't go with any of the ones on your list. I would buy a Lezyne. The Lezyne has the gauge on the bottom but reading it isn't bad, plus it makes the pump much more stable.

I have had a Topeak Joe Blow Pro for five years. I got about a year out of it before I need to replace the oring in the piston, a few months later I replaced the smart head, then the gauge and now the orings need replacing again. I think it is a good pump but it is a disposable pump as are the other pumps on your list.

If you look at a Lezyne, they are built like 65 Mercedes. Everything is built heavier than it needs to be. I expect that this will be the last pump I will ever need to buy. The only other pump that has that kind of reputation, that I am aware of, is the Silca. There are people that have had their Silca and used it every day for the past thirty years and I think the Lezyne pumps are built even better.

I use a Topeak and Park as daily pumps in my shop and have no problems with either in 6+ years. And both companies will stand behind their products should you have trouble.

I have a Silca Track pump that I purchased around 1983-ish IIRC. I replaced the head in 2009. I still works great.

I am very fond of my Topeak JoeBlow Sprint. I'd pick the Topeak Pro.

The more I read about floor pumps with the "smart head" design, the more I dislike them. Arghh!

I have a Joe Blow Pro that is 2 years old and I like it just fine.

However the obvious BF-approved answer is Lezyne. It's the CAAD of pumps. Or maybe the GP4Ks. Either way, you get the point.

SILCA!! the only pump I trust. I have collect 3 over the years and I will never let them go. find an old one on ebay and put a new leather gasket and chuck gasket one it and you are set.

I don't go for pumps with plastic barrels or plungers.

if you are having trouble reading a low mounted guage put a strip of black tape at the 100psi are whatever pressuer you like

I think this is good advice. I would either buy a Silca or a Lezyne. I have the Lezyne CNC and doesn't have any plastic. Everything is machined aluminum. Either pump will last a life time. I do think that the Lezyne has a better chuck on it. There is no plastic to break on it, just two orings.

It looks like this.
