Old Cannondale with 105 for under $200

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Old Cannondale with 105 for under $200

Seems like a pretty good deal if there's nothing wrong with it outside of those scratches on the back.

Anyone see any issues from the pictures or know of the year of this model? I picked up an SR400 (1990 I think) about a week ago and I love the frame, this one seems pretty similar

this is pre 1990 or 1989, around '89 they came out with the 3.0 frame which was 3 pounds for a mid size frame and had the cantilevered rear dropouts. the earlier ones are much heavier but still lighter than a steel frame of the same era and pretty much indestructible.

looks like a pretty good price and looks to be in decent shape. if you buy it just ride it and don not try to upgrade it, if you need a better bike then just buy a new one, this one's ok but you can't turn it into a modern bike

I'd say that's a good deal. I hope you're tall, though.

I have a hard time going more than $150 for anything with downtube shifters... Just MHO... 58cm Cannondale is probably best for 6'+.

That was my first real road bike. Mine was an '86 SR400 and this one looks like a SR500 of the next year or two. My 400 had Suntour Sprint components and the upgraded 500 had the Shimano. If I remember correctly the 400 was $400, the 500 was $500 and so on. I broke the derailleur hanger off (non replaceable) and used the Cannondale trade in policy for the 3.0.

If your happy with the first Cannondale you bought I would just ride that one for a while before buying another old bike. I'ts a step back in the Cannondale evolution. But if you think the first one (56cm) might be too small then this one might be good to try for a while. If you bought it I doubt you would loose much if anything if you decided to resell. Offer him $150 and go from there.

And you get original LOOK PP66 pedals too.

I just gave mine to a neighbor. Honestly to this day they have the smoothest running bearings of any item I've owned or have now.

Yeah I don't actually need it, though I do like it. I was just going to pass the link along here and to friends in HTX

Thanks for the comments as always
