Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Damn, I'm sorry. Forecast for here this Saturday is currently sitting at a high of 22C. It's been about 15-16 almost every day for the last two weeks. I've been riding in shorts and a short-sleeved jersey.

I guess the indoor trainer will be used for another week or two.
What ever happened to the Gore guy and all the warming he was preaching.....

We're usually already in the 70s and 80s (F) here in the Texas Panhandle. It's been near freezing so far this week. I think I'll go let my Suburban run in the driveway for a couple of days to recharge the ole terrestrial greenhouse!

I hear ya....

I spent 3 yrs in Moose Jaw. I know all about the Prairie winters. Still have over 2 feet of snow here just north of Ottawa. This time last year it was 20 degrees outside. Flurries and +2 in the forecast today. Winter, GFY.

Been cold here in the Midwest too but, I really do not even think Spring will ever arrive anyway. We usually go from 30* to 85* just like that...jump right into summer.

+1 in West Kentucky. If we haven't had snow, we've had a cold, penetrating, windy rain. I don't remember one this unpleasant. I've been doing my usual road routes on the hybrid 7500FX with fenders - actually a good workout on a heavier platform but not as fast.

I am not going to let a little cold and ice spoil my fun... think I will load up the touring bike and go trekking this week.

It's needs a good shake down ride as one day, when the snow is gone we are going to ride through the rockies.

We're so spoiled in CA. It's probably 45-55 every weekend throughout the winter here, and even that feels chilly to me. Due to work and family, I've been stuck on the trainer all winter, but gotta admit - one outdoor ride every 2 months in sunny weather is a huge boost to the spirit. Do it once a month, and I'm good to go despite all the trainer work.

Once every 2 months? Where in California are you? I assume way up North, because here in San Diego there have been very few down days all winter.

we're supposed to get snow and icy rain for the next two days. I'm ecstatic. The great thing is that it will then swing over to incredibly hot, probably in a couple of weeks.

I am torn on the issue. Living in Utah, I went snowboarding twice this week. I hate to give up the snowboarding, but summer is awesome as well.

How to deal with winter 101... set up your touring bikes with new racks and fit the panniers.

Expedition bike.

Trekking bike.

My road bikes are just waiting for clearer roads and like to run around naked but until then we are gonna get in some extra spring miles... planning on a 100km ride on Friday.

It reached 26C (79F) in this part of Australia yesterday ... beautiful, warm autumn day with sunshine and blue sky. Pity about having to work, but we did get out for a lovely ride after work.

Been pretty mild in CO this winter but I am anxious for some nice, warm, windless days. Seems nothing but wind lately

I'm looking forward to low 40's this week. Last week it was 20's and getting down to 10,6,12 etc. ran into a road today that still had so much ice on it I pussed out and walked.

Finally staring to hit 50s here in New Jersey. Can't wait til warmer days come, sick of all the 40 and 30 degree weather.
