Fuji Roubaix or similar bike?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fuji Roubaix or similar bike?

So im starting to look for a used/new bike at under 1k. I honestly care a lot for the design of the bike. I owned a older Cannondale and loved that it had very little logo or decals. It had a nice clean look to it. I also thought it was great in many other ways but i wont go into that.

So far, i love Fuji bikes design and am considering buying one. Especially the Roubaix.

Is there any other brands with similar simple design at under 1k? Even used would be fine for me. I will mainly use the bike around the city to commute and exercise.

What can you tell me about the Roubiax? How do you pronounce it? Im going to call some shops to look at it and dont want to look foolish.

this one is for bikes under $700, but start at the last page and work backwards as it is a few years old. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ight=under+700

if you search hard enough, I think there is one called sub $1000 or <1000 or less than 1000 etc. good luck

I got a Roubaix 1.0 about a year ago. It came with SRAM Rival, got it out the door for just under $1k. I put a Force crank on it and Psimet wheels. It has been great for me. The only other thing I have changed are the brake pads. The brakes seem to work well enough, but the original pads I could never get them to feel right for some reason.

Bought new for around $650 in2009 tiagra/105 model version, well over 10,000 miles on it, treating me great.

I have a 2008 Fuji Roubaix RC. For many years, the Roubaix line was Roubaix (Tiagra), Roubaix Pro (105), Roubaix RC (Ultegra). In 2010 they scrapped that and went to (I think) Roubaix and Roubaix ACR, each in 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 levels. I never bothered to figure out what was what, I do remember that they dropped Ultegra and put SRAM on some of them. For 2011 on their site now, they appear to have only a Roubaix 1.0 (105), 2.0 (Tiagra), 3.0 (Sora).

I certainly would not lock onto this bike because of its design. Nothing unique about it. Shop around. I certainly would not buy the current Roubaix, even with its best components, for more than about $800.
