Seen today on my area Craigslist. Although remotely possible that it's not a total scam, I'm picking up some definite Nigerian-email-scam overtones.
My sister has this old worn-out hunk of Roadmaster junk. She's been looking for someone to take it off her hands. Might be a good candidate for this ad.

That's got a lot of bad possibilities. If it's a scam, just avoid it. "Never wrestle with a pig. You'll both get dirty but the pig will enjoy it."
A check for $500 isn't much of a security if you don't know the check is good...she should just buy the bike (for cash) and sell it back, less $100.
