Anyone ever tried ebay brakes?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone ever tried ebay brakes?

I was looking around on ebay and saw these: https://cgi.ebay.com/Super-light-Road...ht_2785wt_1139

Has anyone ever tried anything like these? They are pretty light and very cheap.
But would you trust the quality of brakes that are this cheap?

Might as well get the forged Planet X brakes:

There comes a point where you reduce enough material that the rigidity of the brake goes down. spongy brakes suck

Supposedly, the CNC versions of these brakes are no longer being produced/offered.
I have the CNC version. They were an incredible upgrade over my OEM Tektros.
They came with SwissStop (black) pads, but I immediately swapped those for SwissStop GHP2 (green) pads.
I can't speak for the forged set, but the CNC calipers get great reviews.

There's only a 30ish gram difference in weight and about $75.

Maybe PX USA might have a set of CNC's left:

Very nice guys to deal with.

I would not trust no-name brakes from who-knows-where in Taiwan. You can get a sweet deal on SRAM Rival or Force, Shimano Ultegra or 105 or many other name brands. I got some NIB Force calipers for ~$125 with shipping.

Why take a chance?

They've been thoroughly tested by cycling magazines.
They've around for years and used to be sold for almost 3 times as much under a "name" brand.
Reviews-----> https://www.featherbrakes.com/reviews.php It's basically the "better mousetrap".

They've stopped offering them with Swiss-Stop pads, but they're still making the calipers.

Might be an old webpage (unless they started selling them again).
Those you posted (thanks by the way) refer to themselves as new?
That'd be great news for anybody who wanted them. I'd recommend them.
I communicated with them regularly and spoke to someone by phone who told me they (the calipers) were discontinued.

Here is the email they sent me a couple of months ago [Feb 17] after I got their last pair of Black CNC brakes:

Dear XXXXX,

"We're sorry to say that Ultra Light CNC Brake Calipers With Swissstop Brake Pads / Black has now been discontinued.
We are not expecting to get any more in stock. We usually discontinue an item when it is superseded by an alternative.
Check out our site to see what's currently available or contact us to let us find you an alternative."

Yes, they're now selling them with different pads.

From Planet X: "we've got more on the way but not with Swiss stop pads as we're moving over to Ashima - very nice too! :-) We have Blue and Pink due early April with Black and the rest of the colours due end of May."

They currently show "Lots in stock" for black, though.

That's great news actually. I was a little bummed that I would not be able to get another set for another build.
What probably happened is that they sold out and needed time for the factory to get back up to speed.
The current calipers seem to be different in other ways as well.

I have a set on my bike, got them from ebay. They are branded Mr Control, but look to be identical to the Planet X ones. 223grams with kool stop salmon pads (I put the pads in, they came with something else). They work great, a little harder to set up as they are single pivot, but no complaints on stopping power.
