Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In your shoes, I'd call Pegasus or Wrench Science and see if they can beat $2499, which is the price you'll pay at REI.

If you can wait a bit, REI does their Anniversary Sale every year at the end of May. All full price bikes are 15% off at that time including Cannondale, Scott, etc. Plus 5% back on dividends using the REI credit card. That'll save you an extra $100 versus buying right now.

So, you really can't tell me where I can get it for cheaper. You should have said "there's a possibility that you can beat this price, but I don't know where". That would have been more helpful.

BTW, the net price is $2125, not $2499. I can wait until next year to get my $250 rebate back in cash. The other $125 is a credit card discount.

Thanks, Skinnylegs. I may do that.

I'm not sure why you're giving Beaker a hard time. He gave you a valid suggestion for how you might get a better deal elsewhere.

I'll be interested to hear your feedback when you've had a few weeks on your new bike.

Richard (Beaker) and I know each other quite well. He says things that I sometimes have to call him on. He said I can do better, but he didn't tell where he has experience in getting a decent discount. I can find the local Scott dealers from the web site so that isn't much help.

OK. Point taken. It seemed like you were expecting him to do all the work for you. Like I said, let us know how it rides.

You may want to give Gebhard a call and see if he gives discounts. I'm actually going there this weekend to finally check the place out. The other times I planned were failures. I finally will make it happen on Sunday. I remember when I talked to him on the phone, we basically talked for half an hour on just things and his thoughts on my wants... and he basically gave me a lesser headache after confirming with me that the Infinito (my first choice) is what's best for me. It's just a matter of taking my measurements and fitting me in the right size and taking it for a test ride. I was looking into the CR1 Team since it is much cheaper for me, and he said that either one won't fail me, it will be just a matter of choice during test ride as to what will be more comfortable. So he isn't taking that bike out of the table as well. He did say that the head tube on the Infinito is much higher than the CR1.

Just to let you know, I'm still considering whether to let this outrageous post lie.

On second thoughts, it's BF. Whatever, dude.

The Cervelo RS, the bike he already has, will take 28mm tires.

When resurrecting a thread, the least you could do is quote the particular post to which you're responding...

My LBS has the Cervelo RS in white with a Rival group and 3T bars and stem. Isn't that pretty much what you were looking for to begin with.

Just wanted to remind folks that REI's 15% off sale is on now, through May 30, I believe. I just picked up a CAAD10-3 for $1700, and I'll get $170 in dividends back on that, too, so it's not a bad deal at all. If you're still looking at the Synapse, they have several models, at least at my REI.
