Carbon paste on elastomer seatpost? (for BMC)
Does anyone know if it's okay to put the TACX carbon paste on the elastomer portion of the seatpost for the BMC Team Machine SLR01?

No. The elastomer in the Streampost grabs the inside of the seat tube. You want it clean and dry. The post will squeak on the inside of the seat tube though. You can fix this by putting some thin polyester film on the back side of the post, PDA screen protector works, but I've also used Kapton tape which also worked.

I've put the TACX on the carbon portion of the seatpost itself, noting the wear areas of the post itself. It's been slipping a lot, especially in cold days where the elastomer contracts and doesn't grab as much - which is why I'm asking.
It's slipping less right now, but I wonder if putting the paste on the elastomer will make it stop slipping completely (through reducing the tolerance).
I also wonder if the carbon paste will eat-away at the elastomer itself. That's my main concern.

Hmmm. Have you tried tightening the screw that tensions the elastomer section at the bottom of the seatpost? I'm guessing here, but my thoughts are that with the elastomer, the little gritty particles in friction paste won't help the slipping while its greasy nature might promote slipping. I would suggest thoroughly cleaning the elastomer and cleaning out the seat tube with a rigged up swab of some sort and isopropanol, or some other appropriate solvent/cleaner. Then tighten the screw at the bottom of the seat post until the elastomer section is a somewhat snug fit in the seat tube before locking it.

The bolt at the bottom of the seatpost doesn't tighten since it's press-fitted into the end cap. I tried - doesn't work.
I'll try cleaning the elastomer itself. Maybe there will be more grab - not sure.
