Prescription Sunglasses for riding

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Both my friends bought a pair of Giro Instigator recently and they want to put Rx lenses on them. They would prefer to use transition lenses, but don't mind just polarized if it's not possible. The local glasses stores doesn't seem to want to take care of that for them because of the annoyance(according to what my friends are saying). Can anyone point me to the right direction or give me information on where to obtain lenses? Or, if anyone here would know which physical store that my friends can visit in NYC? Thanks a lot in advance.

Is it just my wife and myself that think that transition lenses make you look like a creeper?

I do the contact lens and sunglasses route but I've been considering getting a pair of prescription sunglasses as I seem to be wearing my glasses more lately. My mother-in-law works at an optometrist's office and I know they carry Rudy Project sunglasses, but I've never tried them to give a review.

Guys, thanks for all the wonderful advice. Seems like the next step is to get an eye exam, so whatever prescription I get will be an-up to-date one, then shop around. As I've said, my distance correction is still fairly minor. But without it, using my Native eyewear glasses, it's harder and harder to read road signs from a distance, for example.

To my surprise Native is willing to replace my broken frame. But since they don't do prescriptions, my dilemma remains. I'll keep you posted, and thanks again!
