New PI Bibs

Just got a new pair of PI Attack Bib shorts. I've always liked this brand/level but they have changed this year. They changed the chamois material and don't list what they are made of. They are also made in China instead of here in the US. I haven't ridden them yet so I can't say for sure but the chamois seems a lot less smooth to the touch compared to last years. Looks like I may have to find a new brand :-/

PI sells different levels of bibs. Which ones did you purchase and how much did you spend?

Hi does say "PI Attack Bib" if you read his post.
MSRP is $95.00 according to PI's website.

Some are made in USA, China, and Thailand/Vietnam? I think, some southeast Asia location.

In previous years, even on the same store shelf, I've noted the different tags appear from pair to pair.

At least for the Elites, which is all I've seen in my local shops carry.

Weird -I just ordered some PI bibs (2 pair of Pro's and a pair of Elite's) and I'm not seeing any difference compared to last years, specifically to the chamois.

I have last years PRO's and they are the best bibs I have ever worn.

I have a couple of Attack shorts from about 5 years ago. I use them on the trainer now. They are okay, but not great. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I much prefer the MicroSensor bibs I bought three or four years ago and that are still in great shape (granted they haven't been worn much the last three years as I have been wearing team bibs).

Sounds as though the Attach PI bibs are marginal.
A question to those that know PI. Are the PI PRO bib's worth the extra cost versus the Elites?
Thanks.

Attack are mid range shorts. I have a pair. They are okay for an hour or two or on the trainer. I like the Elite better. I have both bibs and shorts and they seem pretty good. I'd really like to try a pair of these PRO bibs but the price is approaching the "are you kidding me" range - at least for my budget.

I wouldn't recommend my bibs to anybody after about half an hour on a mid-day summer ride, let alone after 5 years' worth of riding in them.

Our Pearl rep says this year's Select level shorts (that includes your Attack bibs) use a slightly denser foam in the seat pad. That should be an improvement.

I'm happy with their Elite bibs. The Pro level 4-layer pads had been a little too thick for me and a lot of riders who don't have to pay for their shorts, so Pearl is slimming them down a bit for 2011.

I don't honestly feel that much of a difference between the two. The Pro's are a little more comfortable to me, but there's nothing ground-breaking between them. Both work for me, so I grab whatever's on sale.
