Question on pedals & cleats
I am currently using the Shimano R540's pedals, and wanted to switch them over for Keo Look 2 Max Carbons. I have just purchased new cleats (shimanos) and was wondering if they'll work on Keo Look pedals. I heard somewhere that they're interchangeable.
Does someone know if they are? |
no, Shimano clear does not work on Look pedal.
|
You could be recalling old information, as Shimano used the Look (Delta) design back in the 80's and 90's, but the current SPD-SL and Keo systems are completely different and not interchangeable.

Thanks urbanknight! So I might be better off wearing the new shimano cleats before I upgrade.
|
Yes... or send the cleats to me :D

I'm curious. Why change to the Keo's from the Shimanos? I've never been able to see any significant differences functionally between the two.
|
No, it's just the personal preference. I've had the Keo Look Classic on my first road bike. Then got the SP-R540's on the current one due to the low budget. Now thinking of switching to the Keo's again. One of the reasons was a difficulty to take my foot out of R540's in some emergency situations. It seems like you have to swing it twice. And I had nothing like that with the Look Classics. 2nd reason is weight savings on the carbon pedals, as my bike is aluminum/105 and way too heavy for some climbs.
