Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which bike should I get between the Raleigh 1.0 and the Scott S30?

I am fairly new to road biking and am wanting to buy a new road bike and I am on a budget. I know that scott is a very good brand so normally I would just pick this up for a starter bike but I have one concern. I live just outside of pittsburgh and we have huge hills literally every where which can be a pain when biking. When looking at the two bikes I see the scott has better components, but my main concern is it has 18 gears and the raleigh has 24. Is 18 gears normal and will that pose any problem for continually riding up hills. Any advice on what bike I should get, or other suggestions of bikes other than these two I would greatly appreciate, below are the links to the bikes.
