Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What are the best tires and inner tubes out there for the longest riding distances and best flat free protection please? Should I go with a tubless or airless bike tube instead? Thank You.

Thanks.

There is so many that its hard to know what to chose even after a search and lots of research. I been looking at tires for over a week or more now.

Is there any tire and inner tube reviews on the internet where they test out the flat protection, wear, etc on each tire somehow?

Just get the Continental Force/Attack set. Outstanding tires that strike a good comprimise between weight and robustness and, will go the distance with a minimum of worry. Maybe not better than anything else but, these do have a reasonably well thought out design philosophy behind them. I weigh 200 lbs, have logged plenty of miles, and have yet to have a flat with them (knock on wood). Just get the standard tube - you don't need to be saving grams here.

What have you looked at?

I've never used them, but plenty of people on the forum
have said that Specialized Armadillos are very good at resisting flats.

Some people also rave about Vredestein tyres

It probably makes sense to have a cheaper, heavier, thicker tube to resist punctures,
but the difference in thickness between a 70g tube and a 120g tube can't be that great.

I've never used "air-less" tyres or tubes

I wish there was a bike tire like a car tire that way you wouldn't have to worry about flats for a very long time. Why isn't there any bike tires like this?

See this back tire https://www.schwinnstingray.com/bike-hotrod.html why can't tbey make bike tires like this ? It seems like as strong as a car tire or at least looks like it. Look how thick it is. I know that may not mean anything. Has anyone seen a tire this bike before ? I know its not on a normal looking bike it just interested me because it looks like a bike tire that would withstand a lot. Am I wrong?

Can armadillos or other kinds of tires fit my front and back bike tire though? I looked and didn't think I could get one for my front wheel.

Well......ok......you probably could

Ever since Eddy Merckx (I think it was Eddy) started drilling holes all over his "mountain stage"
bike, there's been this big thing about lighter is better. Then the triathletes came along and took it to
the rediculous, so, we have this big hype about lighter being better, especially on a wheel.

In the "road" forum, all us weight weenies get sucked in to buying light everything, especially tyres,
SO.........those tyres ain't gunna be very light.

If you're not concerned about weight, you could either try the airless tyres, ore even
get some chunky cyclocross tyres

Where do you find the Bontrager Hardcases (kevlar in tires) ? I can't find them online anywhere? (The other ones are way to expensive.) I found a topic though on this forum about having trouble finding them online though. Do you know where online to get them?

There's reviews here, but you've gotta select the search "by brand" option

Here's a few (they're all different):
