ya mean the whole planet would have to share the same bike!!!???
no, wouldn't want that.
But if you mean we could only ride one brand, model and color, I guess it depends what bike we had to ride.
I really like my LHT, but one reason I like it is because it's kind of an underground bike. I had the only Surly last weekend in a sea of Treks and Specializeds.
As much as I like the bike and think everyone should have one, it is quite understated and utilitarian in appearance. If everyone had one, it would really fit in with the flavor of a government that would create a monopoly and be so controlling that they would let the only legal bike company sell one model of bike. Kind of like Communist China but worse.
I would imagine if that were the case, they would be that green color they used to come in.
And that they all would be single speeds.
So dangit, everybody-please vote!!!

What if thought experiments didn't exist...
No, really. They're stupid.

it would be like IROC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IROC
Someone 6 foot+ would be uncomfortable on a size 52 bike and someone 5 foot would find a 60 to be unrideable. As long as the manufacturer of the bike provided parts to ensure it fit everyone, it would definetly be more IndyCar than IROC. IROC would be a one size fits everyone, which 99.999% of the population that rides would not find comfortable.

- Whether you realize it or not, road bikes are 95% the same anyway (two wheels, brakes, levers, derailleurs, saddles, etc...) . That 5% difference is enough room for people to fully express themselves.
- Even if we all had the same standard bike, people would find a way to be unique...even in little ways. It's hard to stifle the human creative spirit.
- See what a little tilt of the hat does for this guy?

- Even in high school where kids are required to wear the exact same uniform in order to keep clothing related distractions down, kids differentiate themselves with accessories, shoes, belts, backpacks, etc...

That's like saying cars are 95% the same anyway......four wheels, doors, windows, engine, two or three-box design, etc.
But my Porsche is way more car than your Prius.....

No, not like IROC. IROC the setups were the same until the final year or two in an effort to spice things up. I'm assuming each bike would be fitted to each individual, which would mean it is more like IndyCar (cars engines the same, trillions of setup possibilities) and other spec formula series.
