1. I'm spending way too much time on BF(for someone who does not have a bike)- but I'm learning alot about bikes. My 2nd hand Giant roadbike was stolen after having, and riding it for 4 weeks
2. I can only afford a second hand 8spd Sora bike but want to own a 10 speed, new 105 bike
3. I don't have the patience to wait till Oct 2010 when I will have the money to buy my new 9speed bike, cash
4. I have no brand loyalty, except for Shimano

papawoody 05-05-11 10:16 AM

this is my fave bf thread .
i tell my non-cycling friends to htfu

freighttraininguphill 05-05-11 10:19 AM

I hate lycra. Especially those ugly logos on shorts, otherwise known as "ass-vertising". If I'm going to wear a company logo on my ass, they'd better pay me for it.

I don't use the ignore function.

karenashg 05-05-11 10:34 AM

I'm a totally fredly newish cyclist--triple, mirror, fenders, mtb pedals--with way less skill than most of you, but feel smug and superior any time someone talks about not being able to ride because it's *raining*...

I purposefully pitch my voice higher when passing guys.

jsharr 05-05-11 10:45 AM

I never read threads before posting in them

That's not "newish" or "fredly", that's good commuting gear;) Especially with these gas prices. Keep it up:thumb:

This feels like it should go in a bragging thread not a confession thread.

Heh heh... Well, it should be pretty easy not to be passed by me, right--after all, I'm just a chick weighed down by a steel frame, fenders, and a triple :innocent:

Thanks ;) Function over form!

-I spend half of the year working in logging camps and forest management, complaining and whining that I don't have time to ride and it sucks not to be able to ride a 50km after work ('cause you are surrounded by logging roads and logging trucks);
-The other half of the year, I spend waaay too much time complaining that I don't have a bike nice enough to be ridden hard (on the road, at least), and no cash to buy a new one... while being unemployed;
-Daydreaming, planning and pondering about my best rides takes me more time than actually ride them
-I love to look pro and hardcore: even if I'm cruising the old city, I'll bomb down the hills with the proper "casual-but-aggressive" rider look: a pair of Race Face, Loeka or Salomon knickers, my cycling shoes, helmets, gloves...AND team bottle. But I'm nowhere near that fast nor cool;
- I pay attention to which socks I'm wearing 'cuz long top socks make my calves and ankles look fat;
- I usually start to put on my 3/4 cycling pants even if it's 2 degrees C outside and take great pride on enduring the cold, even if my legs freeze off and stay glowing red for the rest of the day
- I let my cables fray way too much before changing them
- I'm afraid of hydraulic disc brakes for my mountain bike; I'm also afraid of re-hopping on my saddle fast, thus preventing me from trying cyclocross (that I badly want to try)

and, finally, I am waaaaay too chicken to try any new tricks on my bike or harder trails: I prefer to rip beginner and intermediate trails because I'm afraid of having a bad fall, crash and be hurt (even though I played rugby for 10 years)!

I didn't know there was an ignore function.

I don't know how to use multi-quote.

You're welcome. :) I'm a firm believer in that. ;) Just look at the huge seat bag on my road bike in my profile picture. I'm a firm believer in being self-sufficient, so I carry what I need to do any repairs on the road.

Velo_Tut 05-05-11 12:21 PM

Facebook is overrated; Bike Forums is not. I still have an account in both.
