Exustar Shoes sucks. That was not a confession, more of a FACT. NEVER buy a Exustar Shoe.

Taking a cue from politicians, it's O-K...as long as you paid a tax to said politicians. If you didn't pay a tax, then you're a terrible, unAmerican fiend! ;)

I flipped my stem. Then I flipped it back.

I just started biking again as an adult and I love it but I *suck* at it still.

First time out on the new bike, and I was doing great - till I had to go home because I realized I'd somehow cut myself pretty bad on one of my pedals ffs. And I didn't fall or anything, I have no idea how I did that. Then I realized I'd cut the other ankle on the other pedal too, so now I"m the Fred in the kneesocks biking around town until I get less bad at this.

Third time out, I dropped my chain spectacularly enough I had to take it back to my LBS.

I'm scared of going downhill - like, enough that I have been known to get off the bike and walk it. I'm also working on not riding the brakes when I get scared downhill, I know I'm doing it and I remind myself to stop it but I still have to remind myself.

I bought a Road ID because I'm scared that I'll end up in the hospital just from doing something dumb not even involving a car, like hitting a pothole wrong and waking up on the tarmac with broken bones.

And yet? Perversely I still love this and I'm already totally scoping around for my second bike.

Bravery can be defined as being ascared[sic] of something...and doing it anyway!

And there's a difference between being scared vs. being prudent about a present danger.

I decided to take a detour once on a gravel/mix-of-everything-else backroad near my house once. There is a really steep descent, with loose gravel/broken pavement; and the road is just wide enough for one car and has a creek crossing and a curve at the bottom of the hill. My choice was: Ride down it, and probably wipe out if car came the other way, because I'd be going fast, and it'd be impossible to stop on the loose surface....try and ride my brakes down (Scary- the hill is so steep, that once I'd even get a little momentum, just trying to slow down on the loose surface would be as treacherous as trying to stop)....or walk it down. I walked it!

People who have no fear or prudence, are called "mountain bikers". I'm not one.

I did the same. With my 17° stem. And had the bars rotated up wayy too effing high. But it was still too low and I changed it back. :p

Since I've started building a 2-car garage last week in my spare time, I've only been taking 15-mile rides....

I just drive around my 10 mpg city/14 mpg hwy 79 Chevy Z28, that way I have fun while doing it. My other older cars for some reason all get better mpg...that's no fun!

ruirui 05-19-13 11:36 PM

I've been riding for 9yrs now... On and off. Last year till now, I've been really addicted to cycling.. Yet still forget to unclip 3 time at the stop light.

I like it when the boyfriend's driving and looking at me with slight contempt, and the girlfriend in the passenger seat looks at me with amusement, as they pass me by at the intersection.

I can't do either I. I met this person the first day of highschool and the next day she said high to me and I was like "do I know you" I remembered the person but not the face or the name

saxdiva 05-20-13 01:28 AM

I can't help singing to myself when climbing hills. Not surprisingly, I am not popular on group rides.

I've fallen over so often in clipless pedals that I'm terminally paranoid about them and keep going back to clips and straps. I lie and say I do it to save myself time in the transitions on sprint-length triathlons, but I'm really just a wuss.

I'm browsing this forum at 12:30am because I have a dentist appointment at eight in the morning and I'm too nervous to sleep.

Ice41000 05-20-13 02:23 AM

I wear my sunglasses over my helmet straps.
I am very self conscious about it.

Why wouldn't you do that? I don't want the straps squeezing the sides of the glasses frames.

I find special joy in passing long lines of backed up traffic. :D

RT 05-20-13 08:20 AM

I use tire liners on all of my bikes. Going without is like riding without a helmet.

I'm the same way! I go back into a store 30 seconds later to ask a question- "Which clerk waited on you?" -The guy might as well've asked me what the square root of 987,626 is! To myself:"Well it wasn't the girl; It wasn't the black guy....".

In 10th grade I made friends with this nice black kid. Next day in front of the school I think I see him, but he doesn't say anything to me, so I figure it's not him. Then another "him"...walk up to him....no response...guess it's not him. This happens about 5 more times.... Turns out, the kid wasn't even in school that day!

Then there are people who are the complete opposite: Guy I hung out with when we were 11, and whom I hadn't seen since then because we both moved far away....recognizes me in a store one day...when we're 30!

I absolutely love my fake Chinese Oakleys and proudly flaunt them.

I think i like folding bike to much.

gaucho777 05-20-13 06:34 PM

When I was a teenage racer back in the 80s, I brought a picture of Andy Hampsten to the barber and said I wanted my hair cut like his. It wasn't even a flattering picture, and my hair is straight and black, nothing like Andy's. :o

jhboyy7 05-20-13 11:03 PM

I hate fixie's that the kids at my school ride I don't mind track bikes but those ***** swag bikes that kids are riding.
People always call my Roubaix a fixe...I have stoped correcting them.
There's a kid at my school that rides a cheap Walmart bike but I hate him cuz he doesn't actually ride it he always walks it because he doesn't understand shifting

elcruxio 05-21-13 12:02 AM

I can't feel the difference between good alloy and a steel frame.
Seriously I just bought a 90's steel frame and I've already ridden it quite a bit. It even has those annoying really thin old road bars made out of steel which should be really good dampeners.
Also the steel bike has wider tires so even with that it should be more comfortable.

I notice absolutely no difference to my crux. Except that the crux might be more comfortable. At least on cobbles. I hate cobbles. I cannot understand the guys riding paris-roubaix.

Also, old caliper brakes suuuuuck! So bad braking it makes little kittens cry!

And the worst confession of all

I love cantilever brakes. SO much power and modulation
