Noob question

I hate it when I try to do something I think is simple and then I fail.

Okay, how the heck do I install a saddle?! New saddle arrived today. Got the old one off, put the new one on, but I can't seem to tighten the seat clamp without the thing moving up and pointing up in the air.

I have a two-bolt post.

I've tried tightening them both back and forth, and no luck. What am I doing wrong? :twitchy:

Pic if it does any good.

One bolt tightens the position of the saddle and the other bolt the tilt.

Hope this helps

/\ appreciate that, but my seat clamp is completely different.

K&K_Dad 05-05-11 07:07 PM

it should have been the second seat clamp shown in the video.

I'm apparently both incompetent and impatient.

Don't forget to post this in the Confession Thread. :D

Don't worry, it's not like people here judge or anything. :-)

It's okay, it still didn't really solve the problem. The main issue I think is that the bolt on the right tightens from above, not below, so I can't really get to it.

After playing around with it, you start to see just how much it elevates with tightening. Anticipate this amount and set it lower.

It also looks like the saddle is so far back that tightening it may torque it up a bit.

Hey Doc, be careful with your choice of words. Ya, I know what you meant.

LesterOfPuppets 05-05-11 07:39 PM

What kind of wrench does the bolt on the right take?

It doesn't, it's tightened by hand.

LesterOfPuppets 05-05-11 08:00 PM

Hmm, just a knurled jobber then? It seems like it would be tough to get fingers in there. You got any 90 degree needle nose pliers?

Val23708 05-05-11 09:45 PM

front bolt should be turnable if the rear is relieved all the way.

Velo_Tut 05-05-11 10:55 PM

You need me to come over there and do it for you?
