Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me decide: 38mm vs 58mm wheels

I'm a relatively lightweight (125-130 lbs) guy, doing a mix of a lot of recreational riding, some road races and some crits. I'm looking to get a set of carbon wheels because, let's be honest, if you look fast, you go faster

But I'm somewhat torn between the Williams 38 and 58 wheels. If I were a little heavier, I'd probably just go with the 58s. But being lighter, I wonder if the 38s would be better between their lighter weight and not getting blown around as much by a crosswind.

Opinions, especially from people in similar situations who have gone one way or the other, much appreciated!

Katzj,

I was on the fence in a similar situation. I demo'd Reynolds 46mm, carbone sl's, and some no name 58mm from a friend. After talking with Williams, Boyd, and November, I purchased a set of 38mm Carbon Clinchers from November. I weigh 160 at 5'9 and do road racing and now some crits. the 38mm November were right on target in weight (1370g's) and I have put over 715 miles on them. They don't toss me in the wind like the 46 or 58mm did, are plenty stiff, and a blast to ride. They are my everyday wheelset and my Kysriums are collecting dust!
